lazeerer is the man!

i just want to give cred to angelos for the fine heat sink and driver he made for my big blue burner build. everything fit like a tight glove and his driver is second to none. even tho he's busy with several laser projects/ gb's just now he found time to provide excellent communication along with the work. we are so lucky to have so many fine craftsman here on lpf.

damn diode zombied on me angelos. don't know what i did. maybe running it with the aixiz? never got it hot, but that's all i can think of other than just a weak diode.

Is it still lazing as in is it LED'ed or there is no light coming out of it at all.?

If It is LED'ed then a Good Chance it was the Aixiz Lens and How much Heat it was Holding back and reflection. Your looking at least 700mW-800mW of Reflection back onto that diode at that power you where telling me it was putting out with the AIxiz lens compared to using a G lens like i mentioned to you in PM.

If it was the Currant that Killed it which I doubt it was it would have not LED but justs Popped. However it also could possible Just LED. Ive had a Few Just LED rather then Pop.

This is one of the Reason why we have yet to say a Higher currant is Safe. One of the Things that Ive always said is "Sure they can take the currant however how long". It is still unknown.

From what you told me that diode sounded Very efficient. It was Breaking 2W with an Aixiz Lens at 2.1A IIRC you said.

I have a similar project lined up to build, and I was considering using the aixiz 445nm lens for it @ 2.1amps, but I'm thinking about using one of my G2 lenses, even though I prefer the smaller dot with the aixiz lens. I take into account what Lazeerer is saying about reflected energy back into the diode. I guess at outputs below 1 watt it's not nearly as significant, but beyond 2 watts I guess that ~30% output difference adds up fast.

It sounds like there is a chance it is not his diode. He says it flashes bright and then dims when he turns it on. Sounds like a power source issue.
