Well the title pretty much says it all. I am sick of getting similar but inferior items from them, and sick of buying something that says its in stock, only to see that on the orders page it went backorder.

Toward the end of Novemeber I cancelled and requested refunds on 2 orders that I made which went backorder, one for several hosts and the other for several battery chargers. One of those orders was placed in September and it had been on backorder for 2 months, the other in October and had just passed the one month mark.

I then bought the exact same itmes on eBay from other chinese sellers, and have already received both.

When DealExtreme had not issued a refund or responded to my request after 1 week, I filed a PayPal dispute on Dec. 3.

When they failed to respond to the dispute I escalated it to a claim on Dec. 8.

Today is the last day they have to respond, and as of now they have not bothered to do so. So I am guessing that after today PayPal will review the claims and issue the refunds.

I don't know about anybody else, but I feel ignoring unhappy customers and taking money for products you don't have and cannot deliver within a reasonable amount of time, then failing to refund that money when asked to do so is pretty piss poor.

They may be cheap and have a huge inventory, but when half of everything you buy goes backorder, and you can find the same products elsewhere for the same price or a few penneys more and get them delivered quickly, from a seller who actually appreciates your business, the DealExtreme megastore appeal rapidly dininishes.

The next time I will buy anything from DealExtreme is the day that ice cubes go on sale in hell!

DX has a vast ecommerce catalog, maybe theres something wrong with their IT / management department and there could possibly be hundreds of unhappy customers due to that and obviously thousands of claims n refunds that were not attended to.. Previously they have been very reliable imho.. so we should not jump to conclusions hopefully they get it all figured out soon..

Sorry to hear of this. I have only used deal extreme once for a charger and battery they arrived like 4 and 1/2 weeks later. If I buy anything from china I usually go with o-like, lazerer, and most of the time just eBay. But usually I look for an American seller before I even try the Chinese sellers. :p

ebay is usally cheaper then DX, if you search carefully and with different words.
even with ebay's costs for sellers.

Is typical of Chinese web site to offer what they don't have.

Not sure but would guess DX does not stock anything they just resell everybody else's items -- so you get a daisy chain of guys who do not have the items in stock and it can take forever to get something.

They lack the approach and sophistication of Amazon.com but then again the prices are low.

In this case you don't get what you pay for---it seems.

Is very typical to offer what you do not have but somebody you know does have and and on a few pennys --everyone is open to go get what you want if available from somewhere else---creates problems

DX is not a manufacturer, nor are they a direct supplier of the products that they offer.

They deal with MANY different suppliers, and what often happens is the inventory, and product data is old.

Not defending DX, but I do want to point out that in many cases it's not their fault.

They simply don't have up to date data from the suppliers. Once you factor in the time lag from manufacturer to supplier, and then to updating the website... you're going to have unhappy customers.

What is DX's fault is not responding, offering a refund, or alternative options, when such a situation presents itself.

A lot of excuses can be fabricated for them but in my book once they take your money everything is 100% their fault.

They could just a easily be on top of availability from many vendors like Amazon does where you can see what is what with any product offered immediately from any number of vendors a product can be sourced from.

The name of the game appears to be capture the "evil foreigner devils" money and hang on to it for as long as possible. You don't see their web site available in Chinese just English, France, Potuguese, and Spanish.

You can not expect more than "some days chicken/some days feathers" from them.

Again, I'm not defending DX, but your assumptions are not valid in this case.

For third party listings the information is basically limited to;

Available? Yes/No.

Aside from that anything else is a waste to time in catalog management. Only manufacturers can provide exact stock data, and forecast availability with any certainty.

DX is not a manufacturer.

What happened in this situation is pretty straight forward. Mark placed an order with DX. DX forwarded the order to the fulfillment company. Fulfillment company didn't have the item in stock.

Where DX's mistake comes from, is in not refunding Mark as soon as he contacted them about the issue.

The big problem with chinse companies is not at all logistics, but rather lack of support services for when something doesn't go as planned.

I have done a lot of deal with DX and they are always correct in finishing the deals. Most items arrived without problem. Some orders will take time, I have experienced some package take several months before it arrives. When I cancel the order, they always respond me fast and the refund is immediately. Change an order is no problem too. Defective items or missing items are always replaced.

It is too bad that DX treat you in different way. Dealing with DX is always on the long run but they always treated me correctly.

Ive bought a lot of things from DX over the years, and one thing I have
noticed lately is their prices have been going up.. I made my last order
in late Oct. and it just shipped on Dec 12th. I had to email them and complain,
a few days later I got the shipping notice..

Like mentioned above, pretty much anything you can find on DX, you can find on ebay.
Most cases you can find it cheaper, and it ships much faster.

Since the prices have been increasing on DX, I still browse their site, but buy elsewhere.

One thing I can say they have been consistent with, is when you get your order
and there are sku's missing, they always arrive at a later date. I have even had
no missing sku notice which they usually notify on a small card, and still get a 2nd
package with the missing items shortly after.

They're not too bad, just really slow. Always have been and probably always will be.

I easily get a refund. Just tell them at the cancel page that else you will make a review and that you will make a paypal claim if they dont refund. Dont start by being nice to these chinese warehouses sites. Also, clearly say youre not interested in a coupon.
Thats the way i do business with them. In ebay where i buy more, i always be nice...unless i see its a dx-like seller, wich usally begins with "dear friend".

I'm glad that some of you have had satisfactory dealings with them, but I don't consider my esperiences to be so, and I do tend to be a pretty understanding and forgiving guy.

Over 1 1/2 months after cancelling orders and requesting a refund, then contacting them again to ask about the refund status, followed by a paypal dispute 2 weeks after that then escalated to a claim when they still failed to respond, and 10 days beyond that when they havee NEVER responded to any of them and continue to ignore the issue. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE to me.

You are 100% right to my way of thinking M-I-D--you laid out hard earned money in good faith.

One thing is for certain they never not ever have a problem/hiccough taking peoples money---strange they have so many problems but that is not one of them. LOL

There is no way you should have to beg for a refund or go through what you have been going through.

Bottom line is they have nothing to sell----A.they order from manufacturers and other businesses including any laundry that says they have a product to sell in China once you have funded their business with your money ---B.their customer service leave much to be desired. C they often sell/deliver fake products D. they don't care becuase they don't have to E. giving you nothing but hot air makes them a lot of money F. they make large make-ups on dirt cheap dollar stroe goods G there are no Consumer Protection Laws in China. H. nobody in China trusts anyone outside their immediate circle for real reasons.

Nothing on the shelf is nothing on the shelf--would never pass muster in the West. Is not business in a Western sense. I mean who takes your money with nothing on the shelf without letting you know what is what and giving you the choice of waiting or a refund after 30 days?

A simple search of Google search on dealextreme scam turns up 210,000 refs. in 1/10th pof a second for a reason. Many customers wonder if dealextreme is a scam website---not that they are a scam they are just a Chinese virtual business plagued with lack of service, fake products, shifty practices and other Chinese businesses with their own problems.

Anyway good luck in getting your money back---hope it works out OK for you.
