Don't get me wrong.. I agree with this Thread
being posted.
It is a good thing that members are made
aware of any problems with transacations on
the Forum and it allows the other party to
state his side of the conflict/dispute if he chooses
to.

Clearly, this jag-off didn't feel inclined to defend himself. He just hides in the corners and lies and screws the members.

I have a bit of Legal Experience, and I can tell you that his side of the case has no legs to run on in any court of law. You presented your evidence in a more than clear manner. All that would have to happen is a "Discovery" of evidence. They would bring up your e-mail evidence, and the contradictory Paypal Dispute... and he would get Perjury charges.

My take on this is that it is a scam to get something for nothing. He just wants to keep your laser, get his money back, and ruin your reputation. I feel sorry for anyone that has had their reputation ruined through similar means. You have handled this as professionally as I have ever seen.

Anyone else find odd that he claims to have dyslexia, a lawyer on retainer, claims to have someone else deal with paypal - a lawyer no less, drops constant hints about having plenty of money, yet will not cough up $6-7 for return shipping?

The more I read into this, the more I'm inclined to believe you're being scammed SBA.

Retract your offer, and stop all communications with this guy.

From what I read in the communications the reason he was not sending
the Laser back for repair was because the seller did not want to pay
the shipping to the seller...
Even if the buyer wins the PP claim the buyer will still need to pay the
shipping to the Seller.

You're right on that. I read too fast, and only the first line stuck with me.

It's a shame when people do this and give us new members a bad name. Then you guys get wary of selling to us or we have to send the money a certain way, etc.

It's bad for everyone.

Scumbagatheist, I wish you luck in your case, lots of it.
This morning I started to make a listing to put on ebay, have lots of stuff to sell..
2 nites ago I did a little researching and I came across this thread:
Ripped off by yet another buyer! Ebay's Buyer Wins no matter what policy.: General Discussion Boards: eBay Discussion Boards

Apparently the seller NEVER wins..

I only skimmed thru your long initial post and I do not know all exactly what went down but have the general idea (Sorry, very tired and have little time)
What I read in that ebay forum in that link horrifies me when it comes to myself selling, there are SO many cases, way too many.. ebay is built to work this way and in many cases seems to be very dishonest

the word ebay is meant to mean ebay/paypal

Oh another use of lasers is for fiber optic cable testing for breaks and differentiating (Singleing out which cable has the photons)

Best of Luck!

I used to sell woodwind instruments on eBay that I had repaired. In early 2010 I sold a 1900s german flauto dolce that was made in a factory that was destroyed by world war 1 bombings. It was fully restored (by myself) and playing beautifully. Sale went great and I packed it well in an air-tight container to survive depressurization and prevent dehumidification.

A week after it was delivered the buyer demanded a refund stating they did not like how it played. Before I could reply they opened a ticket with PP/eB and demanded a refund stating that it was not in the condition it was listed to be in. I replied to ship it back and I would refund the purchase. They sent it back and I found it had been badly abused, with the thin labium moved nearly 500um out of place in some spots. It was irreparable. I tried to fight the refund but since I could not prove to a non-music expert at PP that it was not in the state that I sent it out they awarded the case to the buyer. I sent photos showing the damage but "it looks like a wooden stick with holes in both photos" they replied.

I lost out on $400 + shipping + about 60hrs of my time + fees.

Hey all! Guess who is trying to extort a driver out of me without even realizing his problem is probably batteries. Would you like to see proof?

Re: New thread
I am a business man. I will do what is necessary to protect my investment. Nothing personal. Just posted reply to you accusations. Not going to repeat it here ( takes 45 min for a paragraph). Short version: send driver in proper working order with leads attached and you will receive full payment due. I'll give you 5 days to get it here. Otherwise, well I guess hou already know you're screwed.

If you're not going to pay attention in class, please don't make it harder for the others who try.
