I thought about the loss of thermal continuity between the host and retaining ring but decided whatever thermal capacity gained would not be much, the retaining ring is pretty small. The foil trick is pretty slick. I know there is thin copper foil like that, I'll have to look and see what it costs...

I know with flashlight hosts you want 2 things which a tight fit gives.. 1 your ground
should you be using the LD pin for the connection, and 2 as much thermal transfer
as possible.. Some of the hosts ive worked with have fine points of contact because
of the way they are shaped and or cut..

An inexpensive alternative which will help on both fronts would be using a piece of
copper pipe, as thick walled as possible. Cut rings from it and use as your spacer.
For a larger or smaller fit than the stock size of the tube you have, you can adjust
by cutting a small piece in the side wall of the ring and bending to fit, larger or smaller.

Seeing as you do a lot of building, a piece of tube will go a long way.. Marinate
with your favorite thermal paste, and you have a good solid and reliable spacer..

I have the luxury of the lathe, but also can remember back to when I was using
a lot of brass tubing to adjust sizes and fit.

The same methods easily apply to large pipe..

You can also buy 'seamless' extruded 6061 pipe if you have a decent local supplier.
While a bit more expensive then buying bar stock, its basically pre-drilled with a very
thick wall.

Unfortunately the center hole is larger than 12mm.. But for spacing
a well worth investment.

Yep he is having fun agreeing with himself. He has not responded to any of the claims about the hardware he is using. You would think he would say that is not the driver and lens I use instead he just keeps repeating that it is not one of his lasers because the security stick that has to be removed to open it has been removed.:rolleyes:

It might be worth PMing/emailing the mod team there to let them know they have a well know fraud artist scamming people there if it hasn't been done already.

Apparently the mods protect him as all my previous posts just asking him to prove his power output via an LPM reading have been deleted and I got temp banned. I am sure my most recent posts will also get the boot.

Wow. Lame. Wasn't there a link in a previous thread about this douche bag to report cons like this? If there is I'd have the guy who got screwed fill it out ASAP. If he used a paypal with a credit card as funding I'd be seriously considering a chargeback too. This is why I *always* say fund with a credit card unless you are 110% the person is trustworthy and even than I still would just to cover my ass.

There are many people that I've wished would die. I can probably think of 5 or 10 people I know in person that I would like to see dead. These are just wastes of space which cause more harm than good in the world.
In fact, there are some crack heads that live just two houses down from me which keep popping out kids and using up my taxes.......

We have crack heads here also and I do wish they were on an island all to them selves, they break into houses and steel things to support there habit.

I supposed if some one did grievous harm to one of my family I may wish that person dead, and I've wanted to punch some one before and I have been in a couple fights in my time, but to want someone dead just cuz you don't like them I can not understand that.
