Well, I don't know how many of you are aware, but Bill actually owns electronics shop...

He has more than 400 (four-hunderd) laser diodes alone!

Imagine!

BTW, speaking of quantity... Bill!! Where is that laser cabinet photo of yours?
Take a pic of your lasers without the cabinet if you have to... we would all like to see that!

I didn't know this :)

I have seen his impressive cabinet of home made hosts and other goodies :)

About resizing photos for the forum ... I use a free program called "VSO Image Resizer", Download Image Resizer This works well for me, I usually resize to 800x600 or 640x480 and then post the images. Not everyone has a large monitor or a broadband internet connection. Hope this helps ...

My elderly mother was glad to see that stuff leave! I keep a lot of stock at home, and my mum lives upstairs at my house. (My dad passed away a few years ago.) Sometimes I need to clean up or clean out in the shop. So, I simply threw in whatever into the box, along with the adapters. I know that a student in a part of the world that isn't loaded with free and cheap components will probably make very good use of a small box of supplies. (At work, they gave me a heavy shoebox crammed with semiconductors of all kinds, so I passed you along a few handfulls of transistors, diodes, and stuff.)

As far as photos go, I still haven't managed to get the new laser cabinet home from work. I just need to get one of my friends to throw it in a truck and get it to my house. Hopefully soon, then photos so I can update my posting in the "laser collections" thread.

Eudaimonium;

That is a wonderful gift from billg519 to you.

That is a treasure-trove of laser components.

He has impressed me with his experience on hi-power IR laser experiments.

In your photo marked "Misc stuff, LDs, components", one of the laser diodes looks like the 4-pin flat Red diodes I have been testing.

If so, it should provide you with a very hi-power Red diode, and a challenge for your heat sink manufacturing.

Good luck with your builds,
be careful with the c-mount & 25 watt diodes,
and don't forget to return the generosity.

Thanks for the story.

I do not see a 4pin diode in there sorry, and I am not at home to check right now. But anyway I have read about them and they are about 15% more efficient than out commonly used LCCs and LOCs...
I believe that they can only hide behind a 0.5 W red c-mount Bill sent me!

Maybe one day I will grab it and try to do something with it. But now, more fun project are to take place! Like couple of 1W ir handhelds, my LPM DIY project, and bluray laser in that Aurora flashlight, and oh yeah my own boost converter project, LM3410 based!

I can not possibly imagine how can I give Bill something he does not have, since all I have came from him, I am trying to calculate my funds right now so I can pay Bill at least some money (to try to cover shippement... almost, 55$ for shipping is a lot of money which is I am unfortunately not able to pay :( ) sorry Bill!

I do not want everybody to think I am not gratefull for such action, it is just that I cannot possibly express gratitude through plain text, so I will not even try (I have read through my old thread, I really wrote the text 'Unprofessionaly').
Me and Bill talked over PM, he knows that I aprecciate it more than anything!

Thank you Bill!

Anyway, as a petty attempt to do something in return, I make these threads, so I can boost some reputation (both real and virtual) for this great man here!

I hope everyone understands!

Well I have enough stuff so I just might :D I just need a few finished high quality lasers to put on my menu, some in Aurora hosts will do fine.

Amazing, if he has so much stuff to give away, imagine how much stuff he has in his shop! It would be like walking in a paradise... with lasers!

@Eudaimonium....

Why don't you build something with some of the parts and send that
as a gift to Bill... I think he would appreciate a personally built ???????
from you...

Hell yeah Jerry! Actually speaking of which, I have already mailed the dimensions of heatsink to be made for Aurora, maybe I cram a nice quality build 6x bluray with Bills name on it hehe :D

Bill, I would love to actually give something to you in return! Since bluray is my favourite color of lasers... Or whatever you want, I can make it happen! I am sure packing a suprise box for Bill soon enough!
And yeah, Bill, my offer on machining some heatsinks with high precision on CNC still stands !

I will see what can I do, although I am sure that I will not quite be able to make something Bill does not already own among his 100+ handhelds if I am not mistaking!

Hey, Bill , You mentioned some gas lasers you bought, if you find yourself in lack of time to build some PSU's or similar stuff, all you need to do is drop me a PM with schematic on it!

:bumpit:

People, c'mon this man did not get quite +rep he deserves...
Just though I'd let ya know. He only got like... 200 points. Anyway,
Bill whaddaya say for a custom bluray build in that Aurora (either that one or any other, I am ordering no hosts except that one!) Will machine heatsink custom and everything, and yeah, I thought you might do a good review of my boost converter that will be made this weekend , and incorporated in YOUR laser, so it will shine with ine 18650. (I hate wobbling of 2x CR123 in that barrel). You have much better equipment to test the possibilities and output of that lil' driver. I'll do my best!
