Unfortunately that might not be enough. IIRC you have to provide proof of delivery, not just shipment.

You do have plenty of time though iirc to respond, so drag it out and don't respond until you actually have to.

Default Re: Bad Selling Experience with "Electron"

Since this was a transaction between Forum Community members
that have been here for a while I would have thought that the LPF
buyer could cut the International LPF seller a bit of extra slack...
But is seems the buyer is only interested looking out for himself
with no regard to anyone else... IMO

He had 45 days to open a Dispute and then another 2-3 weeks
to Escalate the dispute to a Claim where PayPal would handle
it. He would no have lost anything doing so..
If the package is held up in Customs... jumping the gun won't
speed it along...

I bought some Thermopile heads off eBay on Oct 03 that have
not yet shown up. I waited until the 44th day before opening
a Dispute.... Now I have until Dec 05 to open a Claim...
If the package is not here by Monday and I open the Claim it
will now give the package another few weeks to show up if it is
stuck in Customs.

If the package shows up before PayPal makes a decision I'll just
cancel the Claim... No harm No Foul except for the 2 months it took
to get here...

Default Re: Bad Selling Experience with "Electron"

There is still one of the more obvious factors involved here.
If you consult the Members Map you might notice that the location for RHD is just a tad out of the normal high speed coverage area for postal departments.
And considering the time of year and the possibility of weather related delays for the smaller type of planes involved in transporting cargo, (including mail) the priority of the cargo, etc. there could be little doubt that shipping would be more likely to the slower side of the estimated timeframe.
I work in shipping/receiving and can assure you that locations make a BIG difference in services and times. Even a shipment just outside of a main city in the southern part of the country can triple the costs and add days to a simple one piece delivery.

"I have proof of shipment,"
Well now...that only proves that you shipped something when you say you did. Going through everything here it could be a box of "native species natural fertilizer" for all we could tell.
But as you didn't have any reason to do that yet, I would guess that you simply did what you claim to have done. Why would you do otherwise ?
Note - I wasn't part of the "Secret Santa" draw just to prevent getting one of those boxes of "native species natural fertilizer" !

On a funny sidenote :
I have a friend that once went to a busy shopping mall that was known for the thefts from the parking lot. He had a new computer component box in his unlocked canopy. Not right at the back mind you. Up at the front with a few other things in the way in a small Toyota pickup with one of those low canopies that are almost impossible to even crawl around inside.
He went into the mall for "about 20 minutes" he says as he was using the bank just inside the main doors.
When he went back out the canopy door was undone and sure enough the box was gone. He closed and locked up the canopy and drove home to tell me this story.
You see...the box didn't have any electronics in it. He had come from work and, for some reason, found it necessary to fill it with an equal weight of fresh warm horse manure.
Yeah, he used the original plastic bag inside that the computer came in. And he even stuffed it all back inside the styrofoam packing in the original configuration.(To help retain the heat !) But he is pretty sure the pack of dessicant wouldn't help but he left it in there too.
We both really would like to have seen the expression of the thief when he got home and opened his "new" computer...if he was in a hurry he might have even spilled some...

Lol, I saw that. Or rather, I've seen that many times.

For some reason, someone keeps putting me up in the middle of Nunavut. I've never been to Nunavut, let alone lived there. I have no clue why someone finds it so humorous to continuously move my peg out into the middle of nowhere

I live downtown in a provincial capital. High speed coverage area for postal departments is not an issue.

Things like this is why I only ship international stuff via trackable means.. even if it is only $1 worth of springs.

Well the accuracy of some members is a little questionable.
According to the map, some members should be experiencing a LOT of problems with their lasers unless they are very waterproof. All that ocean water would cause no end of problems with delicate electronics.
Do people ever check the map to see if it is correct and/or current ?

Then it probably drives you nuts when I always ask for cheap non-tracked shipping eh?

Sorry - I understand your reasoning now

Not often. Last I checked my location was double or triple listed near where it should be

Then again, all it takes is a glance at my profile to get an idea of where I am geographically.

Yes, but your not a 'new user' anymore, so it's less of an issue than it was originally heh.

Also, I finally found the box with my springs, etc in it. Do you still need any?

I'm good for the moment. I found somewhere in China and ordered some a few weeks ago. By January, when I actually have time to start building again, they should arrive, lol.

I've found that buyers getting antsy with "where's my item?" messages are a HUGE red flag. It has been consistent in my experiences with selling on ebay and Radiant that the people who start nagging you about item delivery status even sometimes before the normal delivery period are always the ones who end up trying to rip you off.

Might be the same place I get mine from lol. who knows. As common as these are you'd be surprised how few people actually sell them.

It probably is! I say that, because it took me a heck of a lot of searching to find them, so I don't think there could be more than one source for these.

They didn't do free shipping either, so it cost me a chunk more than ordering them from you. (even with your *silly* trackable shipping requirement! hehe, come on, it's not like anything can go wrong when you let buyers use untrackable shipping.....)

Default Re: Bad Selling Experience with "Electron"

I'm pretty sure this guy ripped me off at one point.

I sent him a blue pen, the one he has in his signature. I sent it tracked and he got it fine. He then asked for another so I made it and shipped it with no tracking (duh) that one supposedly never got there. I'm sure it did but I messed up and couldn't prove it so I refunded him the cost for the pen.

I also sold him a bare 445 module, pressed and soldered with leads. He said it was DOA. OK, weird things happen but I tested that diode before it went out and it worked fine. All three leads (csse, ground, hot were shorted and it was shipped in an antistatic bag.) I had him send it back and found the die literally ripped off the can, pieces of it were stuck to the window. I have no idea what that diode saw but it was not good. I basically told him that something was done to that diode that he caused but he filed a paypal dispute anyway and won as he sent it back tracked. (bu$$5hit, buy something from someone on ebay and mail them back a box of rocks tracked and you'll win a dispute.)

I can't remember if I made this known back then, either way electron was gone for a while and he just came back recently apparently. I won't ever sell to him again and I recommend everyone else avoid him too.

I still have that diode somewhere, I think there are pictures in my photobucket from when I got it back...

You know what? I think I just threw that module away, like days ago when going through my laser stuff for sale. I do have a picture of it in my photobucket, it's a crappy picture but you can see a piece of the die on the window.

I'm going to shuffle through some stuff to see if I can find that module...

Something else most in this thread would find funny, Zdarkan or whatever his name is PMed me asking to buy some of my stuff. The very same guy had posted this about me, just days earlier!

That is a considerable period of time, if it was a few seconds or a few minutes I might agree with you...

I have no problem selling stuff online, ask any of the people I've sold things to here. My problem is people like you who know deep down that it's not the sellers fault but they try to stick it to the seller anyway since they think they can. It's people like you that make people nervous about selling things online, the unscrupulous buyer that is becoming more and more prevalent.

An argon laser is not a laptop, I don't know why you keep using that analogy but it's a crappy one. An argon laser is a pretty stupid device, chaces are it works or it doesn't. There is no sure fire way to test an argon laser and have it tell you everything is OK like a laptop GPU. Also, chances are a laptop is not pulled used from some old discontinued medical equipment like all of these argon lasers.

As for buying stuff, i know that if theres a problem with it the seller would refund me..up until now. YOU on the other hand, you make it difficult for buyers to buy online because all you want to do is make money fast and rip buyers off so all you want to do is test an item for 5 minutes, says it works and then sell it fast to unaware buyers. You're trying to use this forum to back you up on your sold items huh? Stick an untested electronic on ebay or amazon and sell it and i can bet you that if it has a problem within an hour YOU will be at fault. Its NOT just ebay. Only sellers like you are nervous about selling items because you're afraid the aware buyers will be able to exploit your way to rip them off for things that you claim as being used.
People must think I'm a fool
