vista===>7 = good choice
xp===>7 not good choice
I tried it myself, swapped from xp to windows 7 a while ago when the beta was out and my pc was hell slower. Considering vista was a heavy operating system, windows 7 is a way lighter OS to use.

I got W7 ultimate legitamate (but without the price tag :D)

but yeah.. its awesome. it comes with the great features of vista without the bugs and ease of use of xp. im running it off my toshiba laptop.. its doing great. the laptop came with vista business, but that slowed down within 6 months. i've had W7 installed for over 5 months now and its great (this time i really cut back on downloads and "test" programs!). All in all I am very happy with it.

if you need further info on getting a legit copy (without the price tag) pm me :D

I would be very careful about installing OS from torrents.. They could have integrated viruses, which would be almost impossible to discover.

I agree! we better have the licensed one. Anyway, thats a major advantage having a licensed one.. gives you complete update and support. Unlike the pirated one... make you worry when microsft develops a way to detect it.

Just like what happened to my friend...He was so confident about His vista activator, suddenly, February this year, Microsoft already countered all SOFT MOD hack hehehhe.

but is "complete update and support" worth 219-319$. It isn't to me.

Of course. The guy, orbit_30, is a very trusted member, and the one who actually cracked windows 7 as well.

My pirated vista got all updates and was never deactivated :p Your friend just fails as a pirate, I suppose. There are windows updates that will deactivate you, but M$ isn't smart/caring enough to actually FORCE you to install the update. Always look at what updates you're installing :p

What about using the cracked installer, with a legit key bought on e-bay? Will updates/support be available then? Running W7 without updates seems risky, only a matter of time before some virus-maker discovers a security flaw
