Looks like some alien planet communicator to me, the ones with a built in sequence to call upon aliens at the right time for invasion, The hard drive would act as a black box i guess!

I would say that you hit a button and a trap door opens on the top for bread. Screen is to monitor so you can make perfect toast everytime. You've got audio/video out capabilities and networking for that busy lifestyle. Hardrive for storage/playback of all time greatest toasts. Personally I wouldn't have bought it without the crumb extraction module.
Am I close?:p
