Say what you want, you can't compare those two processors just because of their model number.

GTA4 has the worst engine ever since Crysis.

DDR3 is not good enough yet, you have to allow 1-2 years for it to get fully into the market.



Again, if you don't know what you're saying don't come tell me an i7 is the best for now, at least not the best bang for the buck.

I do think about the future, it's that two years from now you won't get much more new cool stuff than the one you have right now, quad core implementation is not as good as we'd want.

re-read my post, i wouldnt spend anything like $1500. but if someone gave me $1500 and said i abosolutely had to spend it on a computer i would get an i7 for that, not 8GB of ddr2.

Then yes, I support your idea. Naturally, depending on which DDR modules, maybe we can squeeze out more performance out of some uber clocked mega RAM from OCZ or GSkill.

Bad, bad, bad idea. These ultra-high capacity drives fail like crazy. A friend of mine bought a 1TB drive and the very next day, bad sectors started showing up. A lot of data has been lost to these drives. Running them in RAID 0 is even scarier because you have twice the chance of failure.

Stick with drives that are under 750GB, 500GB if possible. And use RAID 5; there is a minimum requirement of 3 drives, but if one drive fails, your data will not be lost.

Oh, good to hear. I've heard the "new" drives are failing like hell. My 250GB drive is from 2005-2006. From then on drives here in Argentina seem to be failing as if it were something common. That is really sad to hear. That's why I'm waiting at least two years to buy an SSD and then stick with some 500GB HDDs for mass storage.

Im running my  HDD 80GB since around 2001-2002,7200RPM, 2MB Cache


The model is a  Maxtor 6Y080L0, that HDD moved to about 3 different PC :D.
I also use Nvidia GeForce FX 5600
The processor is an Amd Atlhon(tm) rated at 1.05 Ghz (I had a Amd Atlhon XP 2500+,also an AMD K7 400mhz.)
My dvd burner are HL-DT-ST-DVD-RAM GSA-H22L, i have two of these. I think theyre 16-18x LG.


Im looking to buy an Amd Phenom & might aswell get my Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz fixed.

Not true.

By counterexample: [highlight]When you play Crysis your video card will show 20-45 fps and you will see sloppyness while playing BECAUSE it's not >= 60 FPS![/highlight]So you DO need 60fps to play perfectly. it's not that "oh yeah the eye sees 30fps only so you don't need more". You DO notice it. It has to do with the refresh rate of the screen. [highlight]Why do you think companies are releasing 120hz monitors right now? Do a google for that ;)[/highlight]

i7's are NOT for gaming!
If he's gonna use it for photoshop, winrar and video editing software then YES. But NOT for everyday use and gaming.
Get a dual core, best bang for the buck right now, I could see money was being taken into consideration and that is the reason I told you that stuff.

Do you really think that a Core 2 quad can't manage 8gigs of ram well?...With all due consideration, they are made to handle up to 128gigs of ram...but ram and cpu management of ram, is definity not my expertise in the computer field.  Do you have any documentation that can explain this to me that it can't manage 8 gigs well?  I really would like more information on this and I am honestly not trying to be a jerk.  I really want to know.

No problem, man, learning is the way.
I'm not saying it can't manage the RAM, I'm saying it's too much RAM as in "You will never use all of it", therefore you're paying for something you will rarely use. Then again, if you work with HEAVY photoshop jobs and video editing software you could use the 8GB, but with 4GB you'll be more than great for everyday/gaming use.

The only time I see any sloppyness while playing Crysis, is when I am in an area where the graphics card has to process a ton of physics calulations. Otherwise, Crysis is very fluid on my screen.

Companies are making the 120hz LCD screens primarily due to the black light bleeding. It really doesn't have to do with anything else. This is what I mean by black light bleeding......turn on your lcd...make your screen black....do you notice light behind your black screen?...turning up the refresh rate gets rid of that.

I don't know....I have DDR3 in my current system and it runs great!
I also have a 1Tb hard drive that hasn't failed me yet.
So I guess, I don't know what to tell everyone.......THe stuff works great and it's fast as hell.

No. No.

Double the refresh rate and you will get a smoother screen, it has nothing to do with light bleeding. I think you were talking about OLED screens which can power only the pixels needed.

No. No.

Yes and No.  When you increase the FPS the light bleeding will diminish, but when it comes to television the only reason why 120hz looks better is because a lot of things are filmed at 24FPS which isn't divisible by 60 thus making the picture more blurry than what it would on a 120hz screen.  If they where to record video/movies at 30 or 60 fps then a 60hz tv would look just as smooth.
