BTW I hung the plastic FS mirror over my bed.....

I put a note in one corner ' Objects in mirror are bigger than they appear'

I don't think anybody else has caught on to that joke yet.

Not a good idea. The phosphors in those monitors have toxic materials in them, it's probably not a good idea to be breaking those open and playing with the stuff in them. Plus the back half of the monitors is leaded glass as well. You can get glass flying everywhere if you "pop" them in the wrong way as well.

What exactly did you find useful in the tube? I can't really think of anything inside a CRT tube that would be useful.

lol yea i figured.. we put a thick towel over the glass then tapped around the tube with the end of a screwdriver til it cracked, then we waited for it to stop hissing. I think it had some type of capacitors in it. I'll have to find them n take a picture.. give me a few mins

EDIT. heres a quick cellphone pic.. i can use my other camera if you want a better quality picture

also at the rear of almost every CRT tube, there is a glass "nipple" that you pop off with pliers or something to properly gas-in...

Note: the electron guns are useless outside of the vacuum, so don't expect new and exciting ways to piss off the neighbor's cat.

I think they would work rather well at pissing off the neighbors cat. They look somewhat heavy...

Although that's not new or exciting :D

I've taken these apart. They have a big main board with a powerful flyback transformer and the board is loaded with other good components also. Additionally they have 3 small CRT tubes, a nice big mirror, good lenses and some other goodies in them.

Pull the main board and keep everything on it. Take the mirror/lenses. Throw the rest away or keep whatever you want from it.

Does anyone know the Brand that has the Dichro's and PBS inside? I took one apart along time ago that did have them, and now I can't remember the maker. I don't know if it was rear or front projection either.:yabbem:
