I USED to play - probably back before some/most of you were even BORN ! LOL !!!

I stopped in 1986 ;-) There were MUCH better things for me to be doing at the time :p

I've tried it a few times 15 years ago but progress is very slow.
So I stick with PC versions of DND and other RPG's (although the possibilities are somewhat limted with most PC games)

That's normal, DND is a game reserved for absolute nerds and geeks. No 'cool' person would ever touch it and no bully could ever understand it.

I wonder what that says about me since I play/d it and so did my ex-fionce, and my best friends........

@ senkat: it wasn't long after that when DND all-but died out. Today I mention it and nobody knows what it is unless they are atleast as old as me and usually they have to be 10 years older or more... Today some video game engines use DND rules/spells/weps, but as a TT RPG, it's basically gone... everyone wants a pre-packaged game with fancy graphics... dont want to be bother with having to THINK... (sorry, personal pet peeve)

I played DD a couple of times when I was a kid, but I've played other RPGs much more (MERP, rolemaster, star wars, blood bowl...). I stopped playing when i was about 14 though... that's 12 years ago now. We also invented a football rpg at school, it was lots of fun until it was banned in school. There had been some crimes related to rpg in Spain quite recently (several guys played a game that consisted in murdering people in real life!), so they were a bit suspicious of our game. Needless to say, when they found out our game was erm.. somewhat violent - had rules to bring concealed weapons to the field (my team, for example, had 1 gun and knife for every player on the field and shotguns and grenades for the coach and every player out of the field -large weapons were difficult to bring onto the field), and that we usually made our players shoot each other on games we couldn't win, they banned it in school. There were also more powerful weapons, too, you could even bring a tank (yes, a tank) into the stadium and kill a player instantly with it (but it cost a lot of money and you could only bribe/bypass the referee if you got a 20 with a 20-sided dice).

I've played a few times. I still have some of the books, too. I remember playing 1st and 2nd ed. Sure, there aren't many groups left, but it was fun. :) Call me a RetroGeek, but I strongly prefer that sort of gaming over computer gaming any day!

I played in college. Back in those days I doubt you'd find many engineering students who weren't playing. Yes, I had skull dice, lead figurine avatars (painted adventurers). I guess that makes me an old geek.
