I know there are a lot of tech-savvy people on this forum, and I just thought that you might want to know this! This news was just recently announced, and the news is that the Ubuntu OS is coming to smart phones! One feature is that you'll be able to hook your mobile display up to a full monitor!
The ETA is late 2013, early 2014. I think this will change the way that we use mobile phones, because of its simple interface, and likeliness to the Android OS (mainly because of the pull down style menu).
Right now, I have the Galaxy Note 2, but I think that when my contract runs out, I'll be buying a Samsung with Ubuntu installed onto it!
So, what does LPF think about this move? Any positives/negatives from your point of view?

Well, Adroid is Unix-based OS and I like it already. Also not sure what you mean by new epic feature of hooking up monitors, but mobile phones with HDMI ports have been available for some time now.

Anyway, dunno. I've never been overly fond of any distro of Linux, Ubuntu included. Tried it out on multiple occassions, everything I need my computer to do is not supported. .NET programming, 3D Max, gaming. Dunno about phones, but as it is, I'm not exactly looking forward to it.

My phone is anything but smart, doesn't even have an internet browser or a touch screen. But my SD card is running unetbootin with 4 different OS's that I update as new versions are released. Linux mint, Ubuntu, puppy linux, and Ophcrack (which is more of a registry tool than an OS).

I put Lubuntu on windows machines to be able to access all files when windows loses them... Also never put windows on the same drive or partition as your programs and files... Clean install is the way to go :p

My family business's servers run on CentOS and all business machines are up to date with Fedora Core...

What phone is it?

Speedy, can you choose between ubuntu and android? If so I need to try this. The only way I would run ubuntu (whether its phone or regular version) would be if it could have android too

Yup. First boot into android as usual then open up a terminal emulator and run the image, then log into it via VNC. You're pretty much running a virtual box type set up but they have backtrack images and a bunch of others. http://linuxonandroid.org/
