No Worries : D , The 8 pin DIP is the Optoisolator , its same pin spacing as the normal DIPs but the package is wider than normal .

Man there's been some great builds posted lately. I'm almost embarrassed to admit it but after waiting 8+ months to get my Tiny Tesla kit aside from opening it to make sure there was no damage in shipping I haven't touched it since. Maybe after work I can try to get the first coat of varnish on the secondary.

Recently at work they opened up one of the labs that had been closed for along time. I was able to score two brand new variacs. I can tell they are really old but they were in the box with the wiring diagrams.
Hopefully when I start collecting parts for my SSTC I will be able to get it working.

Don't feel bad LtKP. I have a USSTCC board
sitting on my table that is as clean as the day
it arrived.

Yeah, I sold a bunch of those and to date no one has finished anything yet! Or at least they never wrote back to say they did. I know Speedy finished his interrupter I sent him though.

Good morning everyone. I wasn't aware this thread existed! I went through some of the pages and glad to see some nice coils here.

Anyway I thought I'd share a QCW coil I put together.

It's still a work in progress but seems to be work quite reliably. The secondary coil is 6 inches tall. Looking forward to more coils here :)

So nearly a year after backing the project and four months after receiving my kit I put the fourth coat of varnish on the secondary which means I can finally start building the coil itself! One thing I noticed is that if you ordered the SD interrupter for the Tiny Tesla or ordered the One Tesla TS the damned thing only works with a micro SD card less than 2GB. You know how hard those damned things are to find? Amazon has them for the same price as an 8 or 16GB. ARGH!

Oh well I'm excited I can finally start building the thing tonight barring anything unexpected popping up.

I have bough countless 128MB 256MB 512MB 1GB and 2GB cards and none work with the SD card interupter i have. Pain in the ass gave up on it a while ago.

I've been saying it for years now, heck it's probably buried in this very thread a few times; I do NOT recommend oneTesla products. They engineer for early failure to guarantee sales of replacement parts. EasternVoltageResearch is far more reliable and robust of a company to do business with, and the engineers there know their shit.

So I started assembling my kit tonight and have three more gripes.

1. They nicely labeled the parts bags X.Y but nowhere in the damned instructions do they reference that number!

2. The damned microUSB connection on the interrupter should have been pre-installed. This kit is intended for novices and you somehow have to get five tiny pins soldered while not bridging any that are barely 1mm apart. Good luck! I only managed to bridge one (the last one of course) but it took forever to clear it.

3. They decided to use black solder mask which makes seeing what you're trying to do rather difficult.

I hadn't seen that before but I wouldn't be surprised. EVR has some great kits but they don't offer any kits with prewound secondaries even for their beginner kit and to be honest I don't have the time, patience, or equipment to properly wind one right now which is one reason I went with the oneTesla kit.

Edit: I'm a dumbass. I see EVR does offer prewound secondaries but they're not cheap.
