Hand her one of those small florescent light bulbs and tell her to hold it close to the coil. Purchase approved. Women love magic electricity apparently. Or at least my wife does.

Edit: This kit has made me want to purchase their 200$ Plasmasonic audio modulated DRSSTC producing 5 foot arcs. Yes, 5 feet. Ridiculous.

Do you have a link to that? I'd buy a 5' spark coil for $200 any day!

Yeah.. no. For that cost you can probably build Steve Ward's QCW gun :/

You can do it just by moving the primary tap, try it out, repeat. Probably won't ever get it perfect, but near enough. Scope will help a lot though if you have one.

Note though that the topload will change it's resonant frequency, so have the one you wanna use on before you start, or you'll throw off your tuning adding it later. Even on my coil, using a screwdriver instead of a nail would cause a noticeable decrease in spark length.

May have to try one of those next then. I can borrow a scope from work. Would like to step it up a notch from this one and also get a small audio modulated one.

Tired of my SSTC yet? Added some more things to it today.

New switch so I can leave it plugged in and just turn it on when I want.

Fixed my issue with the floppy antenna and coiled it around an acrylic rod.

Oh yeah and there is an LED under said rod :)

Waiting on my breakout spike from Fiddy next. Currently just using a sharpened roofing nail.
