KON-BOOT - ULTIMATE WINDOWS/LINUX HACKING UTILITY :)

It is called Kon-Boot, a google search will have more info on it (if that link does not have enough).

It allows you to access pretty much any windows (and some linux) accounts without needing a password.

Simply boot from a cd with that on it, wait till username/pass screen, and just type user. Youtube also has some stuff on it.

Of course its meant for legal purposes but... ya.

Anyways, since I don't know jack about lasers I thought I would contribute in the ways I could.

the last time i checked a piece of software wasnt illegal... its how the end user uses it to make it illegal. just like these programs...

they make great tools for legitimate reasons but they can be used in bad ways. most tools like this have disclaimers stating that how you use this is your own fault if you use it in the wrong ways. the OP has also included such a disclaimer in his OP.

Programs like this are perfectly legal... I use a similar program whenever I have to fix someone else's computer ;)

I use a program called UBCD or Ultimate Boot CD. It allows you to change user passwords and access a Windows machine. I use it for legal purposes. But this program looks easier to use. I will dl it and give it a shot. thanks.

UBCD is a lifesaver! I can't tell you how many times that's saved my ass when I've messed up my MBR. lol.

I'll be the first to say THANKS BlitzStryfe!

the desktop computer at my girlfriend's house has so much crap and viruses on it. Every time I see it I want to remove the unneeded programs, but it's Vista, and requires a password each time. At least now I can install/uninstall programs when I want.

I downloaded the Kon-Boot from their webpage. Both Windows 7 defender and AVG are red flaging it and telling me to remove it from my PC. "Medium Threat"

They both where claiming that it was a remote system?

Either way, I burned the disk and tried it out on my Linux....Ubuntu and it didn't work. Kind of funny if you ask me, I thought it was originally designed for Ubuntu. LOL :)

I can't test it out on my Windows 7 Because I use the 64bit version and this won't work on it.

according to what ive been told avg throws up a lot of "false positives." find something cracked on a torrent and get rid of avg..

avg gave me warnings when installing a trusted wysiwyg web editor.

Such tools are indeed perfectly legal. Frankly, though, it's stupidly easy to reset a password on an unencrypted filesystem. You don't need to modify the kernel to do it; just stick any old "sytem rescue cd" in your CD tray and messing around with the shadow file. None of those tools are illegal.

This utility is interesting, though, because it doesn't reset the password; just bypasses a few system calls during login.
