Only a good point if your shopping for a tablet, this clearly is not a tablet so why compare to one?
It isnt a iPhone, so again why compare it?

Its a big iPod touch and I think it will be great.

Uhh? What? It doesn't have 3G or the larger hard-drive, I would hardly say it's missing all the features lol.

I'm not an apple fan boy, I like some of their products but wouldn't ever spend the kind of money they are looking for on their mac's, it's not worth it. But I really think this product is going to kick off, you guys just can't see it yet.

If you don't like it, don't buy it. Why can't people just be OK with some company releasing products they don't need?

Haha, it's like a comically large iTouch with a splash of iPhone (the 3G).

I love my iPhone, but I think they should have made this a little more than a larger version of the products they already have.

As said, some sort of add-on port (USB) would be nice and wouldn't take really any space.

Also, this would be awesome for Skype! But, sadly, no camera... at least a front facing camera (like most laptops nowadays) should have been in there.

Haptic feedback for the keyboard should have been there so you didn't have to concentrate on keeping an eye on the keyboard while typing... if you've used an iPhone/iTouch, you should know that it isn't always immediately responsive, so having feedback on when a "key press" was acknowledged would be nice.

Do I need an iphone, ipad and a powerbook?
Did I forget about the macbook and ipod? :thinking:

IMHO all this Apple hype is for the "wannabes". :bowdown:

I've been doing some more reading and a little research and found something that is quite interesting and also seems like a good reason why they've missed some of the main features.

Basically Apple could have quite easily made this tablet the apple product to kill all products, full screen touch interface, full osx, mobile facilities, text features and cameras but Apple is a business, and why only offer one ultimate product when you would kill the rest of your market? It's quite obvious Apple has dumb down this product so that it doesn't replace the others, but instead is for the niche market between the iPhone and their full blown laptop/netbooks. I can fully understand why some people would not want to purchase this product because it simply doesn't offer enough to replace the other products currently on the market, but if you don't own the latest iphone or imac then it's a great little alternative

But I can fully understand why people wouldn't need to add this to there Apple collection, it just gets on my nerves when people bash a product with no valid reason, on a computer enthusiast forum I'm apart of someone summed the hate very well:

Valid hate: 10%

Normal Apple hate: 30%

Bandwagon hate: 60%

Well, i never (and i mean, literally never, also in gift) own nor want to own Apple products ..... but it's not "hate" ..... it's practicity considerations .....

Closed systems, no spare parts, reject to give you any technical info if you need to open or repair something, too much high prices, too expensive upgrades and tools and accessories, and so on ..... i've never found, in all my life, a single reason that convince me that Apple make useful things ...... just this

Ipods are really great compared to any other mp3 players, if you like music you do want an Ipod, believe me. I've got an Ipod Nano 4G and I've never regret the 120€ it costed to me

Have you ever listen to other good mp3 players like cowon , Samsung, heck even creative Zen ...... all of those hands down beat the ipod for music... now the I pod has everything else non music related like apps and crap but for pure sound quality you can’t go wrong with a cowon or any of those other names I have mentioned.... if you’re serious about sound quality witch it appears you’re not but some people might you really need to check out Anything But iPod - MP3 Player Reviews & News once you check out good mp3 players and headphones you will never even look at an ipod the same they just sound like crap. but for everything else non music related in an mp3 player their great : ) plus I guess if you like to waste money their good for that to as almost all other mp3 players are less expensive.

This is true, however, there are much, much better MP3 players out there for sound quality.

Well, I'll have to admint I've been kinda out of the mp3 players market since I bought my Ipod last year. But I have to say at the moment I bought it, there was nothing even comparable to it. I've not made sound quality tests, but the interface, the transfer speed and the size make it the greatest mp3 player I could have ever imagined.

And hey, you all know I'm not an Apple fan, but in this one they win.

btw, I just checked the website you linked me to and guess what I read:

Sound quality is the single biggest mistake people make when they prioritize features. In almost all topics regarding choosing a new player, people say they want "good sound quality" or even "the best sound quality". In a lot of cases that's the feature that should have the lowest priority. The sound quality that makes it to your ears is only as good as the headphones that actually spits out the sound and while the sound quality of the player does matter, it shouldn't be the deciding factor if your headphones is a $40 pair of Koss PortaPro or something else cheap. You don't need rocket fuel to run a lawnmower.

Upgrading from even the most crappy sounding player to a good sounding one will only improve the sound quality a little compared to investing in some good headphones. If you plan on using the cheapest consumer level headphones anyways, then over focusing on sound quality will mean that you down prioritize things like user experience and other features that in the end might be what you find most important. My advice is that if you're making a thread asking for help on a new player, write "sound quality that fits XXX headphones" instead of always going for the "best sound quality".

Kinda contradictory with your idea of "sound quality is all you should care about and it's crappy on your Ipod" xD

I use sennheiser CX300 mk2's with my iPod, £18 on play.com and they are superb!
