What do you think everyone here is computer savvy? You sound very demanding. This is no good. =/

Anyhow re-install your browser and learn to be patient until someone who can help decides to help.

I agree with what ElectroFreak said. It sounds as if the links are opening up new windows or tabs. It sounds like a browser setting but we can't help you if we don't know what browser it is. Also does this only happen with certain sites or everything?

Dude! open internet explorer then click help ----> about internet explorer. What version do you have? As far as I know internet explorer <6 did not have this feature. Try upgrading to IE 8 or get firefox or opera.

BTW all this info can be found by a simple google search...

Ok sorry for being impatient- just had seen that several members had read my question and did not have any help to offer. EF did respond and we have been working on it thru PM- already re-installed IE8 --with not much improvement. Normally I would be home on my own PC with a local PC guru to call for help- but I am 1200 miles away on the old crappy gateway i gave to my dad(92YRs)this big storm in my way to drive back has me stuck here tll Sat. Sorry if I misunderstood the purpose of Geeks corner-thought is was for this type of disscussion- I am mostly self-taught on PCs- trying very hard to figure things out on my own and know very few dudes my age(62) who have even tried to become pc savvy-you always hear' ask some kid they all know how to fix issues " So MFO if I forgot to put J/K behind the 'NOT' forgive me. But i did get some help shortly after that so...and EF has been very helpful with my 'demands'. The problem still remanins however and I am all ears for any suggestions- could my 'cookies' be off so my browser is not 'saving' the previous page- I am not sure how to word the problem to get help in the help section via microsoft.- When I click on a link-- the previous page goes way so the backbutton is not blue and so if I close that page I go back to desktop. I can go back via history but that is not a fix. Could it be a firewall thing?somebody plz 'hip' me. hak

Given the fact that chasing down the culprit is likely more trouble than it's worth, I recommend going with Hallucinogenic's suggestion. It could be as simple as enabling cookies, buy your browser could have also been corrupted or compromised by malware of some sort. Switching browsers is the simplest fix if you've already enabled cookies and it is still acting up.

First-?are cookies and temp internet files same thing?/As I was told by Microsoft help to go-IE toTools toGeneral tab to Browsing history( not an option) but the is a 'history' but it has no 'view files' but under Temp. files there is a viewfile option which opens to alist of 2700+ temp tiles none of which start with 'cookies:' most are LPF----- so cookies (if they are same as tempfiles) is definitely on. I did notice the the space alllowed was less than 600 mgs so I bumped that up a little thinking the 'cookie jar' was full--showing how little I know. should I dele all temp files? some go back three years or more to previouse owner I think.- let me know anyone savvy enough. thanks ---Len

Ok so right after that last post a scrolled down to Modeworx link at bottom- clicked on it and as the page site was loading the word 'Modeworx' appeared at the bottom on bar---- slid over to the left that pushed LPF off the screen and onto the floor nearly smashing my left foot and them PFFT! it was gone!!- had to go to history (again) to get back- I really want to figure this out - learning more that way than just getting 'Opera' or something-I have IE 8 on three other PCs that I own and never had this happen before.--

Do a screen shot!!!! and post it.

Are you using tabbed browsing? Your problem definitely isn't normal.

just wat i was gonna say, when you click a link, is it opening in a new tab? I'm not sure if your used to IE8 but when you click on a link it will open a new tab, in that new tab you can not navigate back, just like how you can't navigate back when you open the internet explorer to its homepage.

This is what I mean:

If that is what happening this is normal. If you want to go back you must close the new tab by pressing the x on the tab (top right hand corner). This will then take you to the last place you were before you opened the link.

Hope that helped! -Adrian
