It's never free, I'm afraid. Usually to do that you have to set up a tethering plan with your provider, and those are very expensive. Also providers tend to only support smart phones for their tethering plans. What service provider do you have?

Edit: Just reread what you wrote. Did you mean get free internet for your phone from your laptop? If that's the question then its only a matter of if your phone has wifi....

Yeah from my desktop :) I want to get internet via bluetooth. I am trying to figure out what this guy explains here: Internet on Sony Ericsson Mobile using Broadband « A TECH GEEK UNVEILED

I did not manage to get it working yet, though :( Could this be possible? I mean, access the internet via bluetooth?

Yes it is possible but it I've never been able to get it work myself. Never had much use for it, I guess. It depends if your phone supports it. In that article was he using the same phone model as you?

Edit: Just looked at the article and I noticed I didn't see your phone listed under the compatibility list, unless I missed something.

So I take it this is kinda like the reverse of tethering? Getting internet access on a phone through a hard line like cable or dsl? Interesting concept.

That's quite cool, I'm using my touch as a wireless dongle for my desktop at the moment and getting the same speeds as I would using my eithernet cable. I'm using an app and program called PDAnet, don't know if it's of any use to you :)
