Re: Micro Helicopter by MIT, uses laser detector

I fly the same helicopter as the one in the video above (Align T Rex 600) Thats a electric version, I fly a glow engine powered one.
Although im nowhere near the standard as Alan Szabo jnr whos in that vid. I can do loops, rolls inverted hovering etc. Helicopters like these are very dificult to fly and to get to that level takes years and a very understanding sponser!!

Heres another video of Mr Szabo having a little duel. The helicopters in this video have nearly a 2mtr rotor span.

Enjoy. YouTube - IRCHA 2008: The Duel, Alan Szabo vs Lukas Riva

P.S. all the movements are manualy operated, there is no automation.

That duel video was awesome, ive seen Szabo in several other videos and he is an amazing pilot. I have two helis, one has a 2' main rotor and is capable of 3D flight, like in the video, not that i can do that :D And the other one is a Blade MCX. Its a really nice indoor heli if anyone is looking for one. Its not your typical indoor heli like you might get from Radio Shack or something, its a good hobby grade heli. Not to mention you can get spare rotor blades molded in GITD plastic! I put them on my heli and hit with my BR as it was hovering, very very cool

^ So, then, you can put a pair of PHR diodes (without lenses) set up at 60mA or similar, fit them in the cockpit sides, turned up to the blades, and have a "ghost-glowing" chopper flying around, without anyone understand what's that, too ..... :p :D

^ now THAT would be cool! I should try something like that, i usually just "charge" the tips off the blades as it makes a cool ring of light
