Ok we have all seen the magic eye pictures, now there are some new ones that challenge you to see the original picture with depth perception, can you see this one?

I have a trick for these that is so easy, i can figure out even the hardest ones of these in like 10 sec, Bascily cross your eyes then look at it carefully and bring it back into focus, the picture stays there but only thing bad is it reversed in the z axis (depth)  LIke if it was meant to pop out at you, you would see it like it was carved into a block of foam like a indintation.

But once you get the image its practicly impossible to get it back to normal without looking at something else for a few sec to get your eyes back in focus.

Wooooo you are spot on in your technique for viewing them, but looik at the cube one, , it will change randomly. different areas of the brain will try and reason it. It is very cool.

yeah, i can get these in under 5 seconds, but i have been loking at these things since i was like 5, i still love em. Although its hard to tell what the one with all the balls is. Basically you just go cross eyed, then look, dead easy. Anyone know what it is?

Things . the balls are just depth perception, dont look for an image , it is just 3d , allow for the focus.

In case anyone is interested; My step grandad could see all magic eye pictures almost instantly. He was a very useful person to take down the marketplace to spot the occasional fake one (and there were fakes being sold).

The reason for this is that he worked in the airforce as a photographic specialist which included analysing ariel photographs. The technique used was to take 2 pictures from the spy aircraft as it flew in a straight line. These would then be viewed through a deviece that allowed you to see one photo with each eye so that you could look at them slightly crosseyed and get the magic eye depth effect. Obviously it wasn't obscured with wierd images in the way that magic eye pictures are, it was just 2 photos on top of each other, but the advantage was it made it much easier to see if a given line on the map was a raised wall or a sunken trench (amongst other things).

Not especially relevant i know but i'm trying to get my post count up to 10 so i can post pictures (without spamming).

Back in the days of the 8086 processor, I had a program which would draw these --- in B7W of course. Still neat to look at.

Back in the days of the 8086 processor,

Those were the first uP's I played with! Actually the Z80 and the 8080 were THE first, then the 8085 and 8086. That brought back some memories!

Now they're selling Basic Stamp kits at RatShack... can you believe it?!
