Yeah, because PL is the best place ever to hack to get a political standpoint across... huh.

Just noticed this too.

When will people learn that inconveniencing others does not earn their cause any credibility?
Like the first nations who set up road blocks in Canada. All they are doing is pissing of the people whose support they need.

NASA was hacked too.

It was apparently a "wide spread attack on Vbulletin software supported message boards.". Not sure what criteria the NASA hack fell under. Perhaps they were targeted specifically.

Researching.

More info.

31AUG13
Anonymous performs a "call to arms" for Muslim hackers worldwide against US and Israeli systems in a joint effort on the anniversary of 9/11.

11Sep13
Syrian and Anonymous hacker under the moniker "AnonGhost" claims the hacking of 400 Israeli domains, and the leaking of Israeli citizen credit card information. I've seen the list of domains and list of card info. It is MASSIVE. If it's not 400, it's close, or even over.

This attack is being done under the titles/banners
#OPIsraelReborn
#OPIsraelReload

Will have more updates when I get them.

I wouldn't expect LPF to be hacked. The VBulletin attack is already over, and the mass attack from AnonGhost is also over. Unless there's more that I haven't found in research, we should be good.

Just be weary.

Will post other findings.

C0ld is crazy about security, so that's probably why we didn't see the attack hit LPF. :p

Yeah, most of the people that 'deface' websites are children...

They are literally in there teens, and don't have a social life.

Check out HackForums for example.

yah,looks like a lame hack =(

i don't trust the new versions of vbulletin, they are littered with security problems. it makes it hard to sleep at night using software in which you dont trust the security, so dont think i would ever upgrade to new vbulletin versions unless some extremely useful / revolutionary new features introduced

the older / stable version of vbulletin LPF using appears to be pretty solid in terms of stability and security. granted no software is perfect though, including stuff i have written. programmers are human and make errors, no way around it really

LPF also invest in http://firehost.com, a webhost with main focus on security over anything else. i have been very happy with them. cost is high but you absolutely get what u pay for in hosting industry in my opinion

Well that sucks to see. :( I hope the damage is not severe and the forum can be restored fairly easily.

^ WTF lol

Subtitle reads "labbaik ya bashar". "I am here for you, O Bashar [al Assad]".

Possibly the work of the Syrian Electronic Army? Strange they'd target PL though.

Or just some idiot that thought it was funny?

It was part of the side group of Anonymous known as "AnonGhost"

Could be what is also called the Syrian Electronic Army. I found them mentioned to blame for the hackings of Fox and Twitter.

It wasn't a direct attack at any one forum.

The VBulletin attacks were part of the joint attack by Anonymous and Muslim hackers to target US and Israel.

There is no obvious motive to their attacks. Some pages speak about wanting the US to stop spying, others want us to stop idly standing by as massacres take place, and others just want to be a direct attack against Israel. "There is only Palestine. I say that again. There is only Palestine". Motives are about as scattered as they have always been. I'd expect nothing less.

I am not sure if this is a cry for help, or just an attack calling us out. Either way, they got the publicity they were looking for. With the domains compromised, and the hundreds of credit cards publicly leaked in a "pasteit" (not posting the link).

Take it as you wish. There is an obvious reason they picked 9/11 to do this.

Anonymous "call to arms" sent out 31AUG13
