Angry iPhone 6 Touch IC failure...advice

Hey guys,

I had an iPhone 6 that is about 2 years old and 4 days ago or so it started flickering in the top part of the screen and not responding to touch.

At first I thought it was the digitizer, so I brought it into Apple and they said the logic board is failing and that there is nothing they can do but offer me an out of policy new phone for 299+tax. I got the information but didn't take them up on it.
Then I got to reading. Apparently, with the way the 6/6+ are designed and the lack of what is called 'underfill' under the Touch IC('s?) in the phone, the chip can shear away or be disconnected from the phone's main board. Not only that but that it is
a common issue and the phone they give you for OoW swap is a refurb which may or may not have the same issue building up.

Anyway. I have preordered the Galaxy Note 7 because....well, it looks amazing. But I need advice on what to do with my iPhone 6. You guys no more about soldering and computer chips than anyone I know so I figured I would turn to yall. Do you think this is
fixable without messing up the phone? It would be nice to have a backup phone if it is possible. Or if it is not is there a way to make use of the parts or chassis in the iPhone 6 so it is not just wasted? Pretty nice screen, good battery, good motherboard(failed IC aside), nice design.

Anyway. Would appreciate any advice I could get.

Thanks!
Isaac

Here is a good article about it---all you need to do is get the touch IC replaced --is about the cost of a new screen

Lol, we had the same links in our posts encap. I'm going to call some local repair shops here in Austin, TX(USA) and see if any of them can do an actual replacement of the IC.

Same links---"Great minds think alike, small minds rarely differ" lol

THere are several youTube videos of how to replace the touch IC--am sure you can find someone to do it for not a lot--then you could keep it or sell a functional IPhone 6--is a 15 to 30 minutes repair

I repair upto ten iPhone's a day. Be it iPhone 4/5/6 , I've NEVER had a touch IC fail. It's always the LCD that needs replacing.

I'd see if a local place has a screen in stock they can use to check it. The place I worked at would do free diagnostics. If a new screen doesn't fix it, you might have to send it off for an IC repair. I don't think many local places have the tools required to do something like that.

Here's what I do in Australia, though it shouldn't make a difference!
Back up all your data and make an appointment with a Genius salesperson at Apple,
Before you go in damage your volume switch button with a key or something doesn't have to be badly just enough to show its damaged, in my case I did it infront of the salesperson and since they don't replace buttons on iPhone 6 or probably all iPhones, they will hand over a brand new iphone free of charge as a replacement!

It is out of warranty, so it would be a refurb for 325 after taxes.

I found out the webpage encapsulate and I linked is for a company who does it. They gave me a quote for 149 plus 6 shipping. And no tax. So I think I will send it out to them. They don't invoice you until it is fixed.
