So like the title says. Be as detailed as you want, link to actual parts on stores, add pictures, whatever! Just design your ultimate computer(s) and share them!

Probably something similar in spec to this but home built, in a Cooler Master HAF 932 case, and with a GeForce GTX 780 instead of whatever GPU comes with that. :D

Now I would have absolutely no need for anything anywhere near that powerful, but if I had unlimited money for it, then why not? ;) At least it would last a long time before becoming obsolete.

I wouldn't. I'd get a nice server colo'd at a datacenter :)

that being said, my current outdated rig:

for the general public's purpose, having a xeon rig will perform worse in most games, fwiw.

also - why the consumer motherboard? If I were to do this again I'd get something from supermicro instead.

I personally like ASUS stuff. Though if I'm honest if I were to get a workstation computer (which is what I designed) I would just buy one of those new Mac Pros (Yes I like Apple)

But since I have like 30 games on steam and none of them are Mac compatible, I would probably build myself a gaming machine along these lines:

Core i7 8 Core Haswell-E CPU (Comes out mid 2014)

*Whatever motherboard thats got good reviews and fits all the parts I want*

32GB DDR3-1600 (8X4GB)

4 1TB Samsung 840 SSDs in RAID 10

2 GeForce 780 TI's in SLI

*Random powersupply (probably a 1500 Watt)

*Random Case* (Has to look good and have lots of cooling fans)

For comparison to my dream machine, heres my current system:

ASUS G75VW 3D gaming laptop

17" 1080p 120Hz display with Nvidia 3D capability (its pretty nice)

2.3Ghz Core i7 Quad Core

12GB DDR-1600

GeForce 670M 3GB GDDR5

240GB SSD + 750GB HDD

Gets a whole 20 minutes of battery life :p

Well than DDR4 it shall be.

Damn. DDR3-1600 in quad channel gets like 70 GB/s of bandwidth. DDR4 is going to be crazy....

LOL 7990s arent as good as GTX 690s :)

BUT i'd build:

Rampage iv extreme LGA2011
i7-3960x
64gb ddr3
4x gtx 690
1200W seasonic PSU
2x 500GB SSD
20TB of HDD
Server grade Networking tools :p
Custom watercooling W/Copper pipes
CUSTOM ALUMINIUM case :)

Not the most expensive build, but for me the most practical... Computers are all about the case and watercooling :)

I don't understand. You're given UNLIMITED money, and you choose a 10 grand desktop?

What about server racks? What about disk towers? What about supercomputers?

Okay so super max spec system:

Core i7 8 Core CPU

64GB of DDR4 ram

2 sets of 4 1TB SSDs in RAID 10

4 GeForce Titans in SLI

I have no need for server racks and that other stuff you mentioned

You also have no need for a computer as powerful as you spec, so your point is moot ;)

I would devote all that money to the poor. Not!

It would be devoted to perfecting quantum computing :)

Yeah, given unlimited money I'd buy the Tianhe-2
