I make YouTube videos usually involving ballistics. I'm a Masters Student in Aerospace Engineer/Rocket Propulsion and I have a very unique laser application. I do not think what I'm going to do has been attempted before, and I have collaborated with PhDs across the US and all say it will work. I've read many detailed research papers and found something groundbreaking which I can easily do. I plan on demonstrating this unique use of lasers on a YouTube video when completed. It involves ballistics, that's all I'll say at this point.

Here's what I need (please consider helping):

I need a RGV (RGB preferred) laser which can be pulsed at less than 1 microsecond. I prefer it is at least 300mW, but more powerful would be better. I need each color of the laser to be controllable through a BNC connection with either a TTL or a contact closure. I have a pulse generator which will be used to control the timing of the pulse. The reason each color needs to be controllable is in case each laser diode has a different rise time, I can account for this with the pulse generator.

Here's my offer:
I will pay someone to create this laser as a one time job if it's a reasonable price OR

I will provide advertisements for your business on the YouTube video in exchange for the laser. I like to do homegrown science in my garage and the videos are normally pretty fun and popular. I think you'd get plenty of hits.... here are some examples of videos I've made in the past:

YouTube - Chicken Head Tracking - Pennywhistle Productions
YouTube - Chicken Powered Steadicam - Pennywhistle Productions
YouTube - How to light multiple matches with a single bullet - Upping Mythbusters
YouTube - Goldfish Catches Bullet - Pennywhistle Productions
YouTube - High Speed photography 101 - Restoring Awesomeness to Art

Please consider partnering with me on this project. It will be quite interesting once I get it working. Don't worry, I'll do you right. I'm a tinker thinker who really loves exploring science and the world around me. Check my channel out to learn more about me and see if you think I'm legit. Contact me at DestinWS+at+yahoo.com if you're interested.
Oh, almost forgot. I would need glasses too.

Mot sure if anyone is interested in this. If you are a tinker thinker, you have all the resources to build this system yourself at this forum. You would be able to build it for a fraction of the cost that some here may charge.
You could always ask over at photon lexicon forums, they may have someone who is interested in a project like this.
Good Luck

I've lurked here for a while, so I know all the info is here to build one. I'm focusing my efforts on the other aspects of the project which are also difficult and hoped to get the RGV/RGB done as quickly as possible. From reading on here, it may take me a few weeks to tool up and build one. I was hoping someone here may have a turnkey solution. I'll check photon lexicon for sure, thanks for the tip.

Forgive the skepticism, but I've found time and time again when people are intentionally ambiguous about their application for things like this, the problem turns out to be unrelated to lasers.

For example - if you came in here asking "how do I use a jackhammer" we might ask "why do you need to use a jackhammer"

If the answer to the latter question is "to knock my grandmother's head off to let out the evil spirits that gave her cancer", then maybe the problem is actually unrelated to jackhammers

he would be willing to help. as many here would be. but he is correct. people come here very regularly with very similar requests as you. over the 2 years i have been here i have only seen 1 person work out their problem.
and besides whats wrong with being curious. this is a diy forum after all. LoL.

Pulsing the laser at less that sub-microsecond intervals is my main issue. Can you point me in the right direction for the most cost effective TTL driver for a 100mW laser diode?

Thanks,
