I currently have 6 working computers...

1. The desktop I use most of the time. Win 7
2. A P3 machine with Win ME for some old games
3. Another desktop for "obtaining stuff." XP 64 bit
4. The Dell I mentioned in another thread. Running Linux Mint
5. The system I use with my laser projector. Win 7
6. Laptop. Win 7

And I have another empty case.

At home I have 5 physical, 12 virtual. Offsite just one virtual.

Too many is when the server rack starts to break under the weight ;)

I have several around the house plus parts to make at least 3 more as I used to build/repair them as a hobby. But the one that is really worth mentioning is a Windows 3.11 w/40MB HD in a stainless steel case, not a spec of rust, and runs great. I bought it ~10 years ago. I was after the CDROM which the seller said I could have for $5 but after thinking about it, the seller didn't want to take the time to take it out so he said $10 for the whole computer. I also have Win95 floppies still in factory sealed boxes and the high end (at the time) Voodoo video cards. And tons of other vintage SW and HW. It was an enjoyable hobby.

So to answer your questions, you can't have too many.

The computer repair shop I work at has 5.25" floppies for sale new in the box. I don't thin the owner is real serious about trying to sell them. You never know who might want some though.

Loads of million dollar industrial equipment still uses floppies. Some equipment is so expensive that it's cheaper to go out of the way to interface with obsolete technologies than replace the machine.

I found a ton of new in box floppies in the IT storage room once, was told I could take them. They sold for $50 on ebay in an auction starting at $0. There's definitely still demand for them out there.

Well, I least I know that I'm not the only one with a computer hording problem.
People know that I'm a bit of a tech geek, so They'll give me their old barely working systems. So I think I'm at 8 complete towers, 2 shells, 4 laptops, and a bin full of parts.

Now THAT'S a computer, bet that runs DOOM sweet as a nut. Remember the Old VooDoo 1/2/3 3DFX cards?

Also...I've lost track of how many computers I have.

I have 4 or 5 machines that were laned together with Win 98 SE because I found that OS ran the old games glitch free and sweet as pie.

Believe it or not, my first computer was the most expensive at well over $3000
A Gateway tower running Win 95 and the processor was around 256 and it had an incredible two sticks at 16mB of memory I think the HDD was around 3GB

Two laptops and a pc at home. Two PCs at work. So 6 really doesn't seem all that excessive. I'm thinking of building one more as a media center.
