How can the printer problem be a problem with your mouse?

Do you have two separate and distinct problems-- mouse and printer?

Maybe uninstall the software for the mouse and reinstall and see if that solve the mouse problems---do not forget fresh battery for mouse if it takes one

The printer shouldhave self diagnostic programs built in that you can run----will it print a test page?

If they're USB try different ports and/or reloading USB port drivers as suggested above. USB ports have been known to fail when some of the more common troubleshooting attempts haven't fixed the issue. Good luck!

Hak, you never told us if both your mouse and printer are USB devices. it IS possible the mouse could clobber the printer, or vice versa. If they are both USB, does one work without the other connected?

If it's the same computer... IIRC you had an intermittent
USB Port problem when we talked last..
As was suggested unplug the printer.
Reboot your computer
Then plug the mouse only into each different USB port
on your compter (front and rear) until you find a Port
that functions correctly.

Hak, Did you loose access to anything else? I have overloaded the power draw on the internal port supporting half of the USB ports and also lost access to one of the CD-ROM drives. Had to use an external hub until I could replace the MB.

a new mouse and/or printer should let you determine if it is a USB port problem--is one way to sort it out.
Unusual smell from printer does not sound good perhaps it is finished---maybe take with you to wherever you buy computere gear and test it on another machine.

OKAY
I was not going to make this thread for a week or so.
And this post after that.

UPDATE:

Pruchased a new mouse last night.

you all were wrong and I was RIGHT all along.
the problem was for sure my old mouse.

Even the foul smell was my old mouse!!

I finally took the pic...

So if you click and enlarge the thumbnail
below you will clearly see
IT WAS MY OLD MOUSE...

You might need to click crtl + to see my mouse more clearly....:crackup::crackup::na::beer:

HAK I can't tell if you're trying to be funny with that pic or it actually was the problem and that is your own pic. Thinking that actually is your pic though because you're laughing so hard. In that case I'm laughing with you:)

^^^^^^^^ nah- I saw it on the net a few years back and hoped nobody else did.

RICK-ROLLED!!!

Poor little guy!! I hope he was released. This happened to somebody else as this is not the same pic I saw before.
The 'pen is stuck' pic is off the net too.

Hope you all had a good laugh- I felt we all needed to lighten up a little.+
did not want to wait til April Fools day-- somebody-- prolly Dave would have busted me.
I tried to get somebody to flame me but you all were trying so hard to help me out I just could not let this run for 2+ more weeks.
to all who 'helped'... thanks for that.

I'd be more careful with these kinds of joke/hoax threads. If you don't get the timing down and lead the audience too long, they come across more like a "crying wolf" than a Rick-Roll or Bel-Air.
