Help me decide... iPhone 6S Plus or Samsung S6 Edge+?

Seriously, why is this so difficult for me? I keep going back and forth between the two. Functionality, I can see both being acceptable as a work phone. Visually, the Edge+ has me won over. Resale value? iPhone.

I'd also like to jump into a smart watch once they've matured a bit, so that also plays into the equation.

I know that Android should be the choice for customization; however, it doesn't even seem that the Edge+ is rootable yet. And if it was, I probably wouldn't root it as it is a work phone. For that reason alone, I'm okay with the inflexible nature of IOS.

Any thoughts? Anyone else stuck between these two? What phone are you using?

Lumia 950 is good too, atleast if you're a windows user. Better specs, and better camera. Only drawback would be less popularity and windows phone as OS (which is actually more stable than android, about the same as iOS)

I had an a Lumia 520, and my gf a 630 and we're completely disapointed with wp, zero apps and bad OS. I don't say that is worst that Android, but it doesn't have the half of the apps of Android

Wouldn't be interested in anything that you can't add external memory. Galaxy Note 4 or note 4 edge would be my choice. Then again, I own a note 4;)

Yes, this is true. However, there won't be more new apps unless the market grows, which it is atm. Developing apps for WP is actually a lot simpler (and cheaper) than iOS, so we will see a lot more in the future. For now, you are very right though. Could you elaborate why you think the OS is bad? I have had no problems whatsoever so just curious.

The S6 Edge+ has a better screen resolution, faster cpu, twice the ram and has a sd card extension but the iphone 6s+ has a faster gpu and better camera. I would say which to choose is all up to preference. If you prefer a sd card extension, get s6 edge+ but if you prefer better camera get iphone 6s+

Edit: S6 Egde+ is possible to root but once rooted, you will void he warranty even if you unroot

Edit 2: Dont waste your money on a smart watch, it's kinda useless

Imo you shouldn't look too much for specs in the top tier phones. Pretty much every single one operates without lag at such a high pixel density that you can't even distinguish individual pixels anymore. Go with the OS you like most and then choose whatever phone you think will suit you best.

Yes, that's a good point as well... I've chased the top specs in the past before, and the phone ends up old news after a few months anyway.

I don't mind IOS. As a UNIX/Linux engineer, I do find myself drawn to more of an open platform; however, I do need to keep reminding myself that this is primarily a work phone.

With that in mind, I need some basic functionality to work extremely well -- phone calls, messaging, web browsing, e-mail, cellular and wifi connectivity and hotspot capability. I know that IOS is very capable at doing these tasks well, and has the benefit of being able to tune an OS to very specific and proprietary hardware. Additionally, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who argues that Apple has solid build quality.

Thank you all. You've helped me think about this debate from different angles. I believe I will stick with IOS (iPhone 6S Plus 64G) for my next work phone.

Also, Edge+ would absolutely be my choice if it were not a work phone.

As for the smart watches, I agree with most of the comments about it not being useful *yet*. However, 2nd gen type devices have started to surface (Samsung S2 Classic, Moto 360 2nd gen, Huawei Watch) which have peaked my interest.

However, if I'm sticking with IOS, that's a moot point as well.

Honestly both are excellent in terms of build quality and capability. Its really whether you want Android or iOS.

As for smartwatches, I own a Pebble Steel, and I like it a lot. It has good functionality but at only 150$ its much more easily justified purchase than say an Apple watch. Plus the battery life on the Pebble is excellent.

My s6 Edge is my favorite phone off all time. The camera is better than my SLR even beam pics looks fabulous. Can't say enough good things about it. Battery life is excellent on this phone. I'm coming off an iPhone 5 so took a week to re learn android but IMO it's a no brainier. Edge all day.

I'd go for the S6 Edge - I really don't like any Apple products I've used but I love my Samsung S4 and the S3 I had before.

If it helps at all I sold my iPhone 5S and bought a used Galaxy S4. I liked my iPhone but IMO Android has more to offer.
