I have the HTC Hero for Sprint and I love it. Its a great phone and the Android market is awesome. Lots of free apps to waste your day away with. And very soon Android will be releasing 2.1 for this phone which will make it even better.

If money wasn't an issue I would recommend a 3gs but no way it's available for ~£22 a month

Nexus one?

Other than that, I can vouch for nokia's awesomeness. I've got a 4-year old phone that i can't justify getting rid of: 5mp camera, with carl zeiss optics, 3x OPTICAL zoom, and a microsd slot. :O

Android all the way. Since it says there are no deals available for the Nexus One I might go for the Samsung Galaxy Portal or HTC Hero.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'll go for a hero, as the G1 is on t-mobile. the worst network ever. As it is out of stock on their site though, I'll have to get a Nokia x6, and then sell it to buy the hero.

I tried an x6 in the shop, and was not impressed. I have had enough of the sh**y symbian s60 software.

If you're still deciding, I bought myself a cheap iPhone from one of my dad's colleagues, unlocked it, and am running it on a cheap PAYG deal (topping up £10/month gets me unlimited calls and internet). Overall cost of ownership is much lower unless you use lots of minutes or continually break phones. I agree, TMobile is awful, I barely get a data connection anywhere, I might move back to O2 or their subsidiaries (though their lowest was £15/mo for mobile internet)

I'm really liking the i8910 HD.... It seems very good, but I'm no phone expert. It has 720p HD video capture, display and 8mp camera. Brand new it is only ~$600 so I would imagine it would be within your price range for a plan.

Hope that helped! -Adrian
