does anyone know where to get a good set of lock picks?? im looking for a small portable set. i found this on DX DealExtreme: $7.66 James Bond Credit Card Lock Picking Pocket/Wallet Kit (5-Piece Set) but im not sure if they are gonna brake easily. Can anyone recommend me a better set or does anyone have any feedback on this particular set??... thanks.

btw, this is just for a hobby lol, no im not planning on braking into anything. i made already a few lock picks myself out of bicycle spokes and jigsaw blades, but the finish is kind of sloppy and sometimes they get stuck in the locks.

ok now im kinda nervous... does anyone know about the legality of owning lockpicks, i live in arizona and my friend told me that it was a class 6 felony i i was caught "in possession" of them. but then i was told that possessing them was not a crime if they didnt find "intent" to use them in a burglary act. Ive tried searching online but i cant get a definite answer.

thats the confusing part, do i have to posses and intend to use the tools in the commission of a burglary or just possessing them makes it a crime?

i asked a lawyer and he didnt know what to tell me, i think ima have to ask the police department

leave them at home and you should be fine. if you carry them around you may be suspected of intent to use and be harrassed about them.

I always self-made mile, using saw blades and grinding belt / polishing machine, when i had access to it ..... it's funny.

Anyway, i'm not the law expert, but that article say clearly "and intending to use or permit the use"

If the judges knows their language (thing that here, anyway, is not always true :p), for become accused, you have both to be in possess of them, and with the intention to use or left use them for commit a crime ..... this may mean, you have them, and are in the act, or with the intention, to use them or left someother to use them for commit the crime, it's not enough that you just have them with you.

Ofcourse, is always matter of interpretation, but is a clear difference also for the more stupid policeman, being caught having them closed in the wallet or in their holder, inside a pocket, and being caught having them in hand, at night, and around a door that is not your one ..... :D

I can safely say that if you want high quality lockpicks, SouthOrd is the place to go.

^^ agreed... SouthOrd is at the top of my list for great picks.

for me.. i have a mixed collection.. i've done the bicycle spoke and hacksaw picks.. and the best torque wrenches i use consistently are my homemade ones.. favorites made from the "handle part" of binder clips

but for certain types of picks.. sometimes buying a good quality one is better than trying to make it.

you're not limited to buying an entire set either.. if you just want one type of pick.. just buy them individually for the ones you need.
