I really like Google's initiative about what to do with the analog spectrum that is currently displaying regular basic TV channels, and the other wavelength spectrums that aren't being used. we should put free WiFi internet for everyone, everywhere!

That's a bloody brilliant idea.

But is the technology in place? I mean, that's analog, not digital. And would a computer antenna be powerful enough for the return signal?

the signal is analog right now, after February 2009, there will be no signal and we can make it whatever we want. like... digital free wifi!

Well we aren't going to get free WiFi, just like we have the technology to give EVERYONE free electricity (Every one sad tesla was crazy, but NOOO now they are starting to use his work !) we won't get free WiFi but we probably would get cheaper internet, and yes computers would be powerful enough to return the signal, easily !
