THE SPARKS IN THAT PIC ARE NOT FAKE!!! The only editting that was done was time laspe perhaps, but i have visited that guy before(he has a freaking ton of cool stuff, including a argon ion laser) and he demonstrated that tesla coil, it was very impressive, and was deffinately capable of arcs that size!

i once had 20 of these in parralel powered by 2 charging rigs with 2 AAs each.... needless to say i discharged this into my mini railgun rig ( 2 aluminium rails with a ball of aluminium foil between... the size of the plasma jet that came out of it was awesome.... a very bright light blue jet flash too fast to capture on a camera

the sparks on the tesla in the pic on the front page are defenitely Photo-Shop, my uncle has like a 10 foot tall tesla, those sparks in that pic are indeed FAKE

Why that? Size doesn't matter. First of all, sloppy construction can push your efficiency to horrible values. Half a turn of the primary coil can make a huge difference. Second, it also depends on how much power you put in.

dude be very careful with capacitors..
tis not very "safe" to play with 220v like that

i remember an experiment

connect capacitors so u get enough voltage (like 1kV) and glue two "crocs" onto a wooden table, then let a discharge happen and see the enormous spark
