I'm looking for a few suggestions on a product I'm working on, if anyone has any info they could share :)

Basically I need a boost converter to run off a single LiPo cell and give me 5V out. Catch is I need it to be as small as possible without being in an annoying package (QFN and BGA aren't really options, but TQFP/MSOP/SSOP/TSSOP, basically anything with leads is fine).

I was considering completely integrated chip devices, but I'm not sure they're available in a high enough current. I'd probably be looking at a max of 100-200mA. Failing that, are there any boost IC's you can recommend to suit these specs with minimal component count (and perhaps an enable pin) ?

Cheers :)

For something simple and small, couldn't you just take an LM3410 and turn it back into a constant voltage regulator? Like this:

Or, if they're small enough, you can just buy things like this:

Hmm, that IC is on the right track but 1A probably makes it a bit unnecessarily big. But I'll have a look.

rhd, I could do something like that, yeah, though I'm concerned about the size of the inductor. The whole PCB will probably be max of 2cm in each dimension, and I also need to fit a TQFP microcontroller, single cell battery management, USB connector, some other discrete stuff and a switch on it, while trying to keep it as thin as possible. Premade modules are out of the question unfortunately :(
