That is a lot of coins in 24hrs! I take it that this must be a few years ago in that case.... And pool mining too? Seems like the difficulty nowadays is crazy!

2011 and yeah, it was pool mining. I wish I had done some solo mining so I could have a shiny block of 50 coins stashed away, but I was still in the learning process at that point.

I very much disagree.


Getting funds in and out of bitcoin may be challenging at first, but once both parties know how to use it, bitcoin is the best way to do transactions hands down imo.

yea, but it to difficult to run a buisness on, my meber dont know how to use bitcoin, i dont even no..if i could add a "buy now" or "donate" button were all they have to do it click it enter there credit card or paypal and it send me the bitcoin...

but i doubt it works like that

How about the buyer protection thing? I've been reading that bitcoin transections are final, so it's irreversible. I think that's the most valued part of the Paypal service. Apart from that, it's just another money remitting service, which then of course bitcoin wins.

There is a site called Coinbase.com that you can try for buying coins and stuff. They're trying to make the process of buying coins easy. Basically, Coinbase allows you to buy coins using a linked bank account kind of like how Paypal does it. The problem is that, given the recent volatility in BTC, it's a major pain to buy coins through that service. Coinbase also charges 1% or something for the convenience of using such a service. Still, once things settle down it'll probably be a decent way to get started.

You can also set up a wallet at Blockchain.info and buy coins through other means such as bitcopia which requires a cash deposit at banks. Anyone can send you coins to that wallet as well.

The payment processor Webmoney now accepts bitcoin, which means that Dealextreme now accepts bitcoin! Pretty huge news.. I look forward to the day I can source all components for my store using only bitcoins.

Very cool thread Grix thanks. I've had to make a couple transactions in the past, so I have a Mt. Gox and a bitcoin wallet. still have some reservations about how anonymous it is, but I definitely appreciate it's intent and purpose.

I love bitcoin! I bought 6 BTC in december last year for some "transactions" and bought at $15 each.. I ended up having over 3 left in my wallet and forgot about them until the bubble was about to burst! I thought about leaving them in there because some people were saying they could go as high as $1000 each but i sold them for almost $250 each! Then the next day they went down to below $50 :) Happy days.
Anyway i am happy it has stabilized at around $100, as others have said it makes it more viable as an everyday usable online currency.

Thanks :)

As we speak the average is AUD117.. I look at it at least once a day and the average in the last month or so has been pretty stable around the 110 mark.
