I remember that story very well. Thought he would go on to great things or at least have a good job when he grew up.
Turns out he is almost mentally insane. If you all read the rest of his wiki page it states he was later arrested for theft of even more smoke detectors in late 2007. He has sores from excessive exposer to radiation
Kinda sad

Really? I got my first chemistry set at the age of 7 and that was one of the first experiments I did... The experiments of the book are tame, I expected a tutorial on making nitric acid or something...

The book was aimed at kids, that's why they banned it.

I begged my mom for a chemistry set, but she knew better LOL.

Making chlorine gas at home? With children? Does anyone think that the kids will wonder what it smells like and try to inhale chlorine gas? I haven't read the entire book, but I'd be surprised if the chlorine gas wasn't one of the major reasons for banning that book.

Oh please, the amount of chlorine gas produced is stupidly low; unless you're an idiot and intentionally inhale it for hours, it will burn your nose at most. If you've ever tried sniffing really strong hot sauce, the sensation is comparable.

I'm a chemistry student at University, doing some serious experiments in the lab. A few days ago an experiment exploded a bottle of chemicals near some experiments, sending glass and chemicals everywhere. I was right near it, I was in acute shock for a day from the explosion and nausea from the chemical fumes. The girl actually working on the experiment at the time got first degree burns and her hands cut up by glass, she was promptly sent to hospital. The entire lab was shut down for days.

Safety first kids. If you don't know what's going on in the experiment and/or don't have the proper protection (if nothing else, use safety glasses) then you could get SERIOUSLY hurt. I've seen it happen right in front of my very eyes. Granted I work with far more dangerous chemicals than you guys will ever get your hands on, but still, the message still applies.

Thanks for the info TJ. I like this stuff. I had to find a book for my grandmother that was banned in the US.

Just under 30 megs. Can't wait to get into it later. :)

How quickly does chloroform knockout someone?
a few seconds, althought before the 2 or 3 seconds it needs to take someone down, the guy will be unable to do anything because from the first moment you breath it you get a terrible headache.

Anyway, be very careful with it because it's very easy to breath it yourself due to it's high volatility, and it's high toxicity. A high dosis can kill you or leave permanent damage. It causes sudden death IIRC lol

I told you not to talk to me. I don't want to hear what you have to say
