AVI or MPEG to GIF

Hey guys, I'm trying to make an avatar.
Does anyone know where I can find a free software that converts avi or mpeg files to gif files.
I've been looking for hours and I did find one but the gif comes out being slow as hell. So something to speed up a gif helps too. Thanks in advance.

Search google for "Super", it converts most files, including avi to gif. Your avatar seems to be working OK, so i gather you found one?

Yup I did find one but it's a trial version so I can only use it for 30 times. I'll google super, thank you.

I have a program at home with instructions. My BR and Phazors came in so I might be a little busy with them.

Also chido, your avatar file size is over 2.5MB!

Oh crap I never noticed its size. I'll see if I can lower its quality. Is it really a problem for dial up users? I've never had dial up so I don't know how slow it is.

I lowered the quality using SUPER (thanks Things) and now it's only 1 MB.

(now it's smaller than Things' avatar) ;D

Yeah lol i realised i had shrunk it, was about to post that it was 1.4mb, and the forum went into maintenance mode ;D ;D
