What's with the recent surge of spam posts?

Hey guys and gals!

I've noticed alot of random spam posts and threads hitting the forums recently. The reason I wanted to post a thread was because I accidentally clicked a picture with a broken link and I'm a little worried:yabbem:. I know I have heard that is how some scammers get their information, they get you to click some sort of link and who knows what happens after that. I personally haven't noticed anything fishy in any of my accounts but am definitely being very cautious on the forum since a bunch of random users and threads have popped up.

I apologize if I'm being a worry wart but I would hate to have any of my accounts, and hate to hear of any other LPF brothers and sisters accounts getting hurt as a result. I know I have a serious laser addiction and if my funds get cut off or compromised, I might go nuts!

A forum wouldn't be a forum without some periods of spam here and there. It happens almost every month. You get a couple scanners and that's it

Man I hate spammers and scammers, definitely do feel a little better knowing it's a normal thing though. It just seems that in the past 6 months there has been more threads that have been deleted by mods because of spam. I guess all I can do is be aware. Thank you Alex! Hey!

Nope, no longer Lincoln. Folks decided to move by the Coast for the nicer weather and cooler summers. I often do check the temperature back in the Sacramento area and think "yikes, that's hot"! How bad is it up there in late May?

Yeah, spammers just come and go. Just report it as spam, give them negative reputation(if you wish) and move on with your productive life

Well considering that last week it was low 70s and sprinkling and now next week is supposed to be 102, its pretty crazy, as the years go on I can't seem to do the 100 degree days anymore and that's Sacramento in the summer. At least I'm able to hit the pool!

LaserTaco- yeah I hear that, I know I'm very weary of all emails to people i haven't sent emails to. And I never click on links but I did click on a broken picture link on a post while scrolling and it forwarded me to some random page. I did a virus check and I guess that's the only thing I can do!
