Times are tough for everyone, but things will eventually turn around. It is unfornate though.

Cold, thanks for keeping this forum up and running. It is a great source for information for lasers and with out it, I am willing to bet that this hobby would have half of the ammount of people in it, if it wasn't for this forum.

DX quality is better than wickedlasers.

The forum's creditability is passed to the ads it shows. It is the same as the forum recommending wickedlasers.

I wouldnt say DX lasers are better. WL's optics are superior and are IR filtered. In the 5mW core that I dissected, the internals were the same as what you find in a LeadLight from Z-Bolt.com. The brass module, pump, board, optics, switch assembly etc.

The only difference being that the lasers from Z-Bolt are about half the price. I cant speak for their higher output lasers, But the internal modules are nothing like, nor as cheap as the DX pointers. But you could get 2 lasers from Z-Bolt for the price of 1 WL core.

Now if your comparing mW vs $$$, thats a whole other story... But I will continue to buy fro Z-Bolt and DX over WL.

I don't think that because we have a Wicked Lasers ad that it means we endorse wicked lasers.

But anyway, like people are saying it's c0ld's forums and it's not like he's doing this for profit, he's just trying to keep it running. I say let Wicked put as many ads and give us as much money as they want, because it isn't going to increase their sales

guys, wicked lasers will always be heftier in their prices since they advertise everywhere. They have banners like ours, they have commercials, and they provide lasers to use in large movie productions. The price is in the name, it like buying an ipod, instead of a zune. Ok, crappy analogy... but the thing is, they make lasers... we like lasers!

Wicked is like the surefire flashlight company in a way. Anyone who's also into flashlights knows about surefire and how they have insanely high prices for a product that really isn't all that much better than brands like solarforce/FENIX/wolf-eyes/microfire etc. The difference is that with surefire you are getting a popular name brand light made in the USA rather than a Chinese imitation. Likewise if you buy from wicked you're paying for the name and all of their advertising.

In terms of quality WL isn't actually that horrible except for their units usually being 10-20% overrated. They do stand by their product and honor their warranties. Their lasers do have IR filters and they're miles ahead of DX/warnlaser in Quality Assurance.

I've had my pulsar-125 for like 2 years now and it still works perfectly.
Was it overpriced? Yes
Could I get a 250mw+ open can red for less? Yes
Was I scammed? No

If people want to burn their money buying overpriced wicked stuff without searching the forum then let them.

That's not really right... If SF lights were half the rated output, then it would be the same.

I'm a member of a forum that costs $10 to join if you wish to post or see the sales section. I'd have no problem with the same system here. People can look but not touch. 200mW blu-ray for sale, better join if you want to contact the poster and buy. That's the carrot of the pay to join system. Stick is the $10

Quality would improve, at the cost of losing some kids as members ( I can live with that). Put me up for making this a single fee pay forum. That's 1 vote so far. So that I'm not a hypocrite I'm donating $10 now.

Paying to use an online forum is stupid. If you hate the ads, get a ad blocker! c0ld doesn't put them there to annoy you, it's to get him some money to keep this place free. And it wont only be kids leaving if you have to pay for a membership, I can guarantee you will loose A LOT of members (Which will probably move over to another laser forum anyway).

Yes, it's a wicked lasers ad, we don't like wicked lasers for various reasons, but it's a freakin banner at the top of a online forum! It's not life threatening, it's not harming you, it isn't popping up infront of everyone's posts and disrupting your reading, and people know better, so just leave it alone.

I've been here on this forum for 2 years now, I know for a fact that this place would die if you charged people for memberships, and that's one of the reasons LPF is so popular, it's free.

Just my little rant, but I seriously don't see what the problem is with a banner sitting on the top of a forum page.
