I think it would be really awesome to make a part of the website with links and information about lasers.

This is random, but this site has a link at the top for their own wiki: Speedsolving.com Wiki (it's about rubik's cubes)

Kind of like that. I don't want to be responsible for making something like this, but I wanted to see what you all thought of the idea. It would keep less people from posting simple questions that could have been answered by searching.

The thing about wiki is that its all editable and subject to interpretation.

Then just make it editable by mods. We could pm the page to a mod, and they approve, they'll add it.

And not like that. One that's a part of the site, and will link to all the important posts and stickies.

I'll be damned if I would write up a nice article and have some moron edit it.

Wiki's actually get trolled quite a bit less often than forums, because people can edit it. If one moron deletes an entire article, someone else might see it and go back a revision(it keeps a full history) Also, they already have some useful stuff, and anyone can make it a bit better at a time, you don't have to write an entire article.

Also, going to fix the "where to buy goggles" part of the FAQ right now, it only mentions stonetek and wickedlasers.

I get a charge how frequently people on forums (not just this one) refer to wikipedia as if it were gospel.

when I google something, wikipedia is not going to be my destination click.

the gross amount of misinformation just turns me off.

Then that defeats the purpose.

How does it defeat the purpose, if we can send new information, and have it verified?

It becomes pretty much the same as a tutorial or faq thread on the forum.
