I don't like this idea...

Why don't we just start fresh? That would clear out a lot of the useless reps and give us a chance to start anew. This could erupt into a flamewar.

I disagree... Rep points were given accordingly(for the most part) on the basis of helpfulness, credibility, trustworthyness, etc. Some people do not deserve to have their "slate wiped clean"...

reputation is the best thing ever created on internet, it's the only reliable way to know someone's credibility.

But i anyway vote for a reputation reset, everyone starting at 0, really senior members do not need reputation to be well known by us :p

The old rep system was pretty unreliable. You could even rep yourself once a week

I can think of one notorious member with thousands of posts who had a huge amount of undeserved rep. If great posters like jayrob want their old number back it I agree they should have it. Otherwise it should be done on a case by case basis. I really don't care about the 6 rep I had. The main use for it is to let others know you are safe to sell or buy from.

I'll have to agree with you when it comes to sellers, traders, etc. but just reading a few posts from a member will quickly reveal if they are good, helpful contributors or not.

I didn't even notice Igor's or Dave's or Jay's or Ken's (and Co's) rep points, but it was immediately clear that they knew their $hit and that they were very helpful members
