there appears to be an issue with thread notification and the quick reply box. this took several hours to find

for example... lets say you have notifications set for a thread, and you can see the thread is set for notifications in your Notifications section.

now if you reply to the same topic using the quick reply box it appears that the notification for the thread goes away... i have tested this and i think its a bug, please test and let me know what you all find as well

i think a temp solution for this is to always reply to threads not using Quick Reply box, and by manually clicking the "reply" button.

please let me know if this helps any of you out who have been having issues with thread notifications

i am not 100% certain the quick reply box is the issue here, but if some of you all could test this out i can confirm and try to get this fixed ASAP

sorry for the inconvenience

regards,
-avery

Nicely done.

As a reward, you may have Wesdaman14 to use as your personal assistant for three months. You will have to feed him, but the beatings will not be counted ;) :D :p

Peace,

uh-oh... maybe there's more than one bug.

I just checked my notification state for this thread... it was set "off".
...and I didn't do any kind of reply since my last notification.

and of course I didn't save all my notificatin emails to make this easier to diagnose... ::)
Aren't I a problem?
Usually if something has a failure state waiting to happen, I get it - unless I'm trying to diagnose it, then it never happens. One of Murphy's laws, I think.

Hey... since you still have your hands dirty... would it be easy to include, in the notification email, *who* submitted the post that triggered the notice? maybe in the subject line?

"GroovyTube has posted a reply to xxxx xxxx"

'cause if I'm involved in, say, Kenom's group buy, I want to immediately check it out when he posts (lol!) [sub]::)[/sub]
but if it's SnoopNewby asking if he could have his barrel made of dark chocolate, I won't bother to bring it up. Sounds simple from this end but only you know if it's even do-able.

Dan
