Earlier today I experienced the first double-post ever because of a bad internet connection (I was at a friend's house), but when his computer doubleposted again the server kicked in and blocked the second one, automatically labeling it as a "Duplicate".
This makes me wonder how the first one got through.. but since it hasn't been a problem since it should be fine :)

I have not experienced any problems apart from that, and I really like the new scheme of 1 extra rep power per 250 posts. Some of the long-time contributers seem to have reached their deserved rep now. :gj:

As of around 9PM EST I'm getting piles of 404 errors. Refreshing does not work and I have to go "back" 2 or 3 pages to get the page to load. I'm getting the same results from email referral links and forum surfing.

With the 404 errors, revolving reloading ads, and having to refresh pages to see updated post, its staring to not be fun anymore.

Strange.... very strange. I still can not go directly to LPF in Firefox or IE. I get a message that says:
Network Timeout
The server at www.laserpointerforums.com is taking too long to respond.

The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply.

So now the only way that I can get here is through a proxy. :(

twarne, your IP was blocked at firewall for trying to connect to port 22 on LPF, please check your computer for viruses or malware as i doubt you intended to do this (ssh is used for remote login to server)

tech junkie, sorry for trouble.. pleaes let me know an exact example of what causes the error.. i am 99% sure it is a problem on your computer/browser settings as no one else seems to be having these troubles

please try clearing all browser history, cookies, and turning off any browser plugins that might have been added since then

Thank you cOldshadow. I ran my antivirus and it came back clean. I hope that I don't have something evil hiding somewhere. :(

Maybe Jake is hiding his stash of lasers and insulin inside your computer and LPF can smell the scent of BAN! Watch out, you never know when the FDA will raid your house!
:crackup::crackup::crackup:

Jokes aside, I have still not experienced a single problem loading the page, editing messages or attaching files. I will test the file attaching again today with a large batch of photos. I am receiving all notifications and the links work. The server loads extremely fast in Firefox. I have several performance programmes to clear cookies and viruses and defrag my files so this might be why I do not experience problems.

This is not true. Others are getting 404 errors, and having to refresh pages to see updated post. The 404 errors have stopped, but I sill have to refresh most pages to see new added posts. Also this does not happen with other similar forums I've been on.

About the reloading ads problem. If I clear my cookies ect, the problem stops. But it starts back again after 5 or 6 links, and only from email referral links. Yeah my PC is probably to blame, but the fact that it doesn't happen right off the bat shows its has something to do with the forum also. I have my browser set to clear all temp and internet files when the browser is closed, but the forum files never clear, unlike all the other files. I think that is why I have to refresh pages, and old ads keep cycling. Yes I could remove the setting, but my PC is slow with a small HD, plus I should not have to. I only have these problems with this forum.

I'm ok with most of it, but the 404 errors sucked. But they seamed to have stopped, so I'm good for now.

I have to refresh pages to see new posts as well but this is only after doing the "back" button, so the forum is performing correctly in that situation as going back will just revert to the page before that and not refresh it.

tech, maybe that's what you're doing?

it wouldn't hurt to make sure you have the latest browser update as well, IE8 or Firefox 3.5 (i think it comes out today, or tomorrow), or whatever you use.

thanks,
Kendall
