Not a troll attempt at all. Just my opinion that its a conflict of interests that you want a say in how things are run, but don't want to see the ads. Nothing more nothing less.

Except that I do see the ads, when they are links within text.

That, and the forum makes nothing off of them.

In my short time on this forum, I too have already become annoyed by opportunistic and unsolicited marketing attempts so i agree it is a problem..........buuuut to be fair, i do think LB serves a purpose in welcoming members to the forums. When i joined, i humbly admit that i found his partially canned post to be somewhat helpful.

And i know it may not be my place to say this given my experience level, but i think the shills for wicked lasers trying to create uncertainty about the WL reputation for new comers are more worthy of our ire.

Who doesn't use adblockers? :D
I don't use them....

I find it's not fair to the Forum administration that
needs/uses those ads to help finance this growing
Forum...

As a Moderator I thought you knew that...

BTW... how long is this POLL (obviously about me
since no other member has been mentioned) going
to stay open...

It has already been 10 days and only 29 LPF Members
have voted (I haven't even voted) out of the 18,145
currently registered members on LPF
...

And only 22 that agree with the OP....

Lets see... that would be 0.0012 % of the Registered
Forum Members trying to make Forum Policy....

Something seems to be out of whack....

If I'm going to spend hours of my day moderating, I think it's going to be worth more to Avery than myself blocking a few ads.

As IE said, most of the ad revenue would come from those thousands of guests.

I understand that you spend a lot of time Moderating and
it is appreciated...;)

What I'm getting at is that all the "guests" can easily read
the posts.. for example on this Thread... and can take away
any info about using Ad Blockers just like the registered
members.

To have posts by an LPF Moderator condone the use of
Ad Blockers just doesn't seem to be in the best interest
of the Forum finances....IMO

18,145 currently registered members on LPF... i think its time for LPF to start sending email out for deactivating accounts because out of this probably only a few hundred have been active since the beginning of this year.

What reasoning is behind that assertion?

The analysis of numbers is a funny thing - statistics - for example another way to look at it would be to observe the following;

397 Active members. (- In reality the number is actually smaller, likely a third.
Of these 29 chose to vote.)

That's 7.3% of the total.

Of those that did vote, 75.9% chose to vote No - canned posts should not be allowed.

because this is the static jerry used. even though we all know 90% of these people are no longer active members.

"WE ALL" most certainly do NOT "know" that
I would posit that your "90%" is completely spurious
Did you roll a pair of dice to come up with that number?

There are MANY more members that just read and monitor the forum than post on the forum

Also, sometimes people go for months (sometimes even years) between posts

Those people do not subscribe to threads, elect to receive email notification, or even utilize PM's

Your implied assertion that only those that YOU decide are "active" members have value to the forum, is an insult to those who do not "fit" your criteria

Peace,
dave

so if these people just leak in the shadows and have no input on threads of other parts of the forum then what makes you think they would vote on this poll or even add value to it?

I didn't say anything abut this poll
I simply challenged your assertion, assumption, and statistic
