I think a sub-forum dedicated to discussing the science and physics of light and lasers, as well as other subjects, would be cool. Not sure how popular it would be... what do you guys think?

In theory, great idea.

In practice, people are more interested in talking about the effects of lasers, rather than the actual physics of lasers ;)

this came off the Magnets + Lasers thread, hasnt it?

thankfully it is still growing and has the best answers ever...
i love it when we start discussing like that, i really learn a lot

but maybe it will just not get as much attention as it should and will end up like medical lasers :(

i'd still give it a try

I'm afraid it will end up like the old medical lasers board. After the initial topics die people will lose interest in the sub-forum and just post their laser science related topics in the general discussion forum because it gets more views.

I like the idea of a science sub forum. I like replying to those kinds of posts because I tend to have to teach myself what it is so I can pass it on and I learn a lot that way. Of course I do think the vast majority of these types of posts would just end up in the general section.

i'd really like a Physics+General Science section. you'd be a great contribution there

^Shut up.

I swear, climbak is my long-lost brother. He thinks the same as me. That's what I was thinking... and that's how I learned almost everything I know. :)
