hey team

the last week or so everything appears to be going very solid on the site in terms of system performance, morale, and spam minimizing

* performance seems solid (please report to me if u have an issue but no reports of issues, and from my monitoring everything seems steady).
* i have received zero complaints the last week or so involving fights
* mods are doing a great job
* spam -- i changed the registration system human verification method to questions/answers b/c spam bots might have cracked the image captcha's. since making the change spam is down and less bogus user registrations

thx all for making LPF a great place
have fun, enjoy the site

peace

You have lost a major mod, two large contributors, and have a child molester lurking on the forum.

You're rolling really strong.

Don't get me wrong, the BS has subsided but at the cost of blandness.

Don't you notice the lack of good quality posts and threads?

From what I can see, this forum has lost the best members, members that had a lot to give and some that added spice. Nothing much of value for me here in the past week.

Just me 0.02 with tax and PP fees.

They'll be back at some point. LPF went through this same episode over 2 years ago (Although much worse) and it managed to recover.

Sorry dnar, opinions are no longer 2 cents in this economic climate! :p

(Shipping must also be included too... )

I did just receive a note from a member saying they are leaving and where they are going. I don't think you ever really leave a forum though. You just don't post for a while. I must not be paying attention but can someone point out who we are missing? Is the, "Absent members", list up to date with this info?

Just so as you know, you can't get rid of me that easily! :eg:

We also seem to have gained a troll ;)

Aside from the sarcasm in his post, I would not say TROLL, but rather
general consensus.

I wouldn't be so optimistic... Deleting threads, valid points, genuine concern,
and legitimate questions is a slap in the face to the entire community.

But this seems to be the norm now.

Didnt the folk on this forum used to lash out at WickedLasers forums
for the same things?

Members are now obviously worried about the integrity of this forum,
or their comment would be freely posted, not deleted.

Now they seek pre approval in a way by posting only 'PM sent'...

Yup, if the mods dont like our opinions no matter how civil or correct they are will be deleted for no reason, but the fact they dont want subject and or member X talked about.
Also it seems any time i type C@$i0, it gets replaced by stars...
Thats kinda annoying i understand the reason why but still shouldn't it be a choice? or was there a legal preceding that took place that forced a word filter?.

Perhaps, perhaps not. What are you referring to? Jerry's banning? The reasons for that were complex and not entirely apparent if one just looked on the open forum - have you spoken with someone who knows a lot of the details? T_J's requested banning? LPF was making him crazy. I respect what he did. CJ's banning and unbanning? Avery flip-flopped on the issue, and ultimately went by the poll votes.

For all three of these events, Avery listened to what forum members said and acted accordingly. Avery respects us and allows us to raise concerns about things that go on - but we also should respect him when he once-in-a-while says "I've made my decision and would rather not have my judgment questioned."

Check this out: Avery, I disagree with some of the ways you run this forum, but I am willing to discuss it like an adult. My post won't be deleted. Funny old world, eh? It's a respect thing.

Also it seems any time i type C@$i0, it gets replaced by stars... Thats kinda annoying i understand the reason why but still shouldn't it be a choice? or was there a legal preceding that took place that forced a word filter?.

Avery is probably doing this to respect this company's wishes (and to avoid possible legal threats) - if we use their name, that means that threads on this forum will probably turn up in Google searches. People seeing the company's products disassembled and used in a way that they deem 'irresponsible' could possibly damage their reputation.

Seems no one cares a molester is roaming a forum of 99% males, of which 60+% are boys.

Yet there are no complaints?

Its been brought to light, and im sure there have been complaints..

I guess in all fairness, it is good forum etiquette to ban users for what they
say or do on the forum rather than off of it...

Though I could be wrong here :tired:

Or we could just respect the forum as Avery's private property. Which it in fact is.

End of story.
