I am not involved with any part of SELLING the meter. I contributed an idea and wrote a small bit of code to get it started.

Well in that case... I personally should be OK (to be a Mod candidate) since my
salesman does the selling and the receptionist types out the orders and Canada
Post delivers the product...

Things has never posted on here that he is associated with the kenometer. You advertise for the lasersbee I on lpf. There is a difference

I personally don't understand where is the conflict of interests between selling products and the involvement in a moderation of a forum...

DAGUIN hands down if he wants it, followed by Yobresal, then Scopeguy; in that order :)

Arayan, the problem could be between other users products. If for instance laserbee was mod, and someone talked crap about his products, laserbee _COULD_ react and ban that member, and delete the thread, or use the powers in some other way. Not just picking on you Jerry, anyone could do it, just an example :)

As for the Kenometer, Kenom is purely responsible for selling the meter. Back in the design stages, I wrote up some code to get it started, and it went from there.

Here is a snippet of a Post on the PL PRO Review by Things responding to a Post
about using the low precision ADC used by the PRO where Things clearly shows
me in that post that he is part of the Kenometer Team...

@laserbee: Just saying your ADC is "Propriety" doesn't help your side, did you have THEM custom produced too??

Sure, we can use a higher precision ADC, but why? Who gives a crap if your reading is off by .1mW.

All I'm saying is.... if one points a finger... it should be pointed equally
and justly....

This argument may be applied to strangers or noobs but, in my opinion, is not realistic for correct guys like Jerry, Kenom, or you :)

I agree with this 100% with what Things said here ;) and I also think Simon is doing a fine job, what was it that brought this up in the first place ?

To be honest, I prefer to see Dave stay non-moderator, purely because he contributes greatly to the forum already, loading another job onto him will mean he won't have as much time to provide info etc.

Please guys lets not get heated the snow is starting to melt :na:

Jerry, I do admit I am part of the Kenometer team, but not part of the "sales department", if you'd like. Helping design the meter doesn't really mean I am selling it myself ...

c0ld said that he received several requests for a 2nd Mod...

The more I look at this... the more I think we really don't need a 2nd Mod.
Simon is doing a great job... IMO and he's TCB just fine and in a timely manner...

I know what you are trying to say.... but the fact remains... you are involved
in a competitors business/products and therefore you will be biased... just like
myself for our products...

And IMO... that was the point that robjdixon was trying to make...

I agree Simon is doing a great job, however maybe c0ld/Simon are looking to lessen the load on themselves? Even with 2 mods, LPF is a huge place to keep a continual eye on!

There are quite a few Vet Members that are very vigilant and have a
daily finger on the pulse of the Forum...
These members relay any problems directly to c0ld and Simon...
Of course adding one more Mod could reduce the work load...
but is it really that excessive...

We had a 2nd Mod when Simon was instated.... he has dropped
to the wayside... I personally did not think he did as good a job
as Simon...

IMNHO the second mod from earlier had some separate mitigating factors that took him away.

This discussion about the need of a 2nd or not is a bit off topic. However, as long as people are complaining to c0ld (and/or Rev) about the amount of "drama" and/or useless and SPAM posting here, then there is not enough moderation going on.

I am absolutely sure that it is NOT because the admin and mod doesn't care. They most assuredly do. It is simply because the forum is not covered well enough by our present moderator system to satisfy the complaining members.

I would think that if there was a disagreement between the two mods (although I see very little chance of that), that c0ld would be the arbitrator. He is the owner of and the ultimate responsible party for the forum.

Peace,
dave
