1st, I'd like to thank all the guys that put in a vote for me to be a MOD. I'd LIKE to think that I could be fair to all Members & make good decisions, even if I have to consult with SIMON or AVERY before rendering MY decision on an issue. 2nd, I'd like to put in my vote for YOBRESAL. I think he'd be as fair & impartial a MOD as we could want. Thanks again to all...............rob

I'd say either Dave or Jerry, in no particular order.

Been a long time. Just heard your name or just felt like the time to come back and see us?

Dave for sure. He's up all night like I am, so I dont think time is an issue. Plus I've never seen the man flame.

And no I would not ban everyone, just temp ban :eg:. If I had IP access, like I did when I was a mod, there would be no reason to accuse other people of being banned members returning. You have to admit though, if I was a mod the forum would be a lot more quieter.

And no, I'm not asking for the job. You could not pay me to mod here. I have enough headaches, the last thing I need is to babysit this kindergarten.

Yeah, almost two months. I left because there was just too much drama and bs going on here @ dramaforums.com. Seemed like no one was really talking about lasers anymore. I still lurked from time to time, and still buttloads of drama. I guess it'll never end so no point in trying to dodge it.

I have enough headaches, the last thing I need is to babysit this kindergarten.

So, why do we need more than one mod? Simon has been doing a good enough job so far; a small/ temporary influx of stupid noobs/trolls doesn't quite justify commissioning another mod...

To be honest, Simon is one of the very few members who are extremely level-headed, unbiased and abstain from participating in drama. I can't say the same for all the "nominees"... Just my 2 cents...

If I had to nominate someone I'd probably lean towards Dave as well, but who knows if he'd want to do that... though Yobresal and Phoenix77, and i'm surprised nobody has mentioned Glenn (scopeguy), from what I could see, would make good mods as well.. I know that doesn't count as much of a vote, but, hey, there may be a runoff.

To be honest, I prefer to see Dave stay non-moderator, purely because he contributes greatly to the forum already, loading another job onto him will mean he won't have as much time to provide info etc.

IMO, making Dave a mod doesn't mean we're asking him to "work" here. Just that, he will be able to kick the trolls when he finds them trough his normal activity in the forums.

Yes Dave is a wise man for these situations :)

Not it!!

But seriously, Dave would be a great choice if there needs to be another moderator here. On several occasions I have asked questions and had numerous replies stating that I'm a stupid n00b. Then there's a post from Dave that answers my question. Then more posts about my being a stupid n00b.

I also like Laserbee's style, but I reckon merchant status might clash with moderation, in some people's eyes. When I first joined, I brought back a 2 year old thread to ask a question. Laserbee told me that is frowned upon around here. However, this was in a private message, and worded very politely. I was thankful for this welcome message, while everyone else just glazes over it as just another n00b post.

A n00b will always be a n00b unless you teach them something.

-Patrick.

For me, this is my only issue with LB becoming a mod. I'd vote for dave or charlie bruce

I could agree that Things (part of the Kenometer Team) should also not be
considered as a MOD candidate for the same reasons....

[EDIT]
No offense intended Things...;)

You have to remember that it is also important for the chosen mod to be fairly hard handed at times, and someone who won't mind being involved in a fair bit of drama. Glenn is without a doubt one of the most kind and trustworthy members on the entire forum, but usually he does not touch the drama here, and I doubt he would find it particularly appealing to spend a large amount of his time having to read through and act on it.

Dave, Rob (Phoenix77), Niko and Yobresal are among the people I definitely wouldn't mind seeing as mods. I don't think Niko has the time, and we have not heard from Yobresal yet, whereas both Dave and Rob seem to be willing to step up to the "job".
