Need Help by Laser XY Plotter

Hey Guys,
this is my first post, and I´m not sure, if I post this thread in the right forum (If not, plz. move )

Ok, my question:

I will build an XY Laser Plotter.
To cut:

-Paper ~
-Cardboard 5mm
-Foam rubber 5mm
-Foil
-very thin Wood
---------------------------------------------

Now, what is the best Wavelenght ? IR or not ? 445nm or 808nm.
I thought about 1W Laser.

445 would be the easiest in the visible spectrum but a co2 tube is your best bet...

The idee with the CO2 Laser Tube is good. But its too big for the Plottter
I will buy the 1W 445nm Laser

Or is there a better Laserdiod ?
