They have their own forum for promotion...

Uh LPF has always been good for the "free speech" policy around here. Let's not turn it into another laser community with certain brands being banned from discussion.

As you may know, WL and CNI invented every portable laser device that is out there and has controlled the market since day one.
To allow comments on the forum, where you and the vets are supposed to moderate and "be a vet" to be always clouded with comments that everything WL related is a scam is just childish.
To then let us know we are doing the wrong thing by not giving enough gifts, even though we've given close to $100,000 in free lasers since we started to the community again is just insanity.
I think that the strategy of being nice and sucking up forum members is inherently a very flawed strategy. Yes, its one thing to make offers and then retract.
But, I think the right move was done in some cases. It seems to me that if you guys truly feel that one person like optotronics or a reseller like dragon or nova is the best thing to lasers while WL should have never existed, so be it.
We do not have the time and resources to put into a cause where we get nothing except negativity back in return.
At this time, we will not be honoring free review units anymore because we see it as no longer as "review units", but blackmail.

And he told Dave that he should be editing out bad comments about WL... How would that go over? He wants Dave to moderate by removing any negative comments about WL from threads...

And then if Dave did that, then maybe he would follow through with his promises from before...

P.S. I got it off my chest now and you won't see me going on and on about this. I don't consider this bashing either. In fact I have never bashed WL.

But this is just plain facts that I am pointing out. (as others are as well)

Yeah but mention one negative comment on WL's forum and you'll get banned. Plus WL tried to have Dave censor negative comments about WL here. You guys do not know all the background either. Jay just gave you a sample. This should not be tolerated, period.

I could care less about the riff-raff.. to me this is no longer about who can and can't see the info. WL has again proven themselves to be blatantly disreputable by failing to live up to their own commitments and by bashing on LPF members, particularly the veterans. After everything that we've done collectively for WL (free R&D, advertising, hype, etc.) if they want to be so ungrateful they should be stricken from this forum completely.

It may not be that easy though. WL advertises on this forum. If we ban all discussions about Wicked's products then by extension c0ld will be forced to no longer accept their advertising. I personally could care less about Wicked but that'll be less money c0ld has to run the boards.

There is no reason to ban discussion of WL. That would be totally against the idea of this forum.

All that needs to be done is to simply treat them like any other sellers.

When someone has a problem, they post in the feedback or companies boards. When someone has a review of a laser they HAVE, they post it in the review board. When someone has a question about something someone here can help with they post a question.

What we do not need is this replacing WL's forum or people coming here just to vent at WL. We do not allow any other companies or any one particular laser to have stickied threads. People are frustrated with WL. Let them vent that frustration at WL in WL's forums.

All of the "speculative" threads and all of the "advertising" threads posted by affiliates, should be deleted.

Future threads asking about a laser no one has or trying to drum up business for WL should be closed and the member should be referred to WL's forum or WL's email.

We are NOT affiliated with WL in any way other than accepting an advertising banner from them (just like all the other companies who choose to advertise with the forum.)

they had a contest that "you design a white laser and if you win we give you one"

2- they lowered the price of a laser they never sold

it's still amazes me that so many vets and long time members are surprised..

they are in the busines of selling snake oil over there.

I'd like to see the WL-related posts moved to some other forum section so that it doesn't hog the recent posts indicator for the 445nm forum (among other things). The 445nm forum is not a WL laser forum, and yet that seems to be the main use. This WL laser is attracting too many one-time members who are only interested in this one laser, just want to yak and speculate about it like they're on an Apple rumors forum, and will disappear after this is all said and done. These are not "valued members" in my book.

It used to be that "safety" was a suggested reason to hide the 445nm board from public view. I never thought, however, that a much better reason to hide it would be to keep all the fair-weather WL riff-raff from polluting the forum about a specific commercially produced laser.

I've noticed BB you've been a little flustered, lately, on this issue. Did you end up with DIY 445nm build yet, or are the rush on these getting you stressed?

How about if we move all of them to the waste bin until someone actually as one in their hand? All we are doing is helping to add to the hype

Have you read through either of the threads we tried to use in this last adaptation?

I say we delete them all (to heck with the post counts) and stop being a breeding ground for WL sales.

These are all things that people want to know.

However, they are questions for WL, NOT LPF.

AND all of the answers are simply more speculation based mostly on the word of a CS person in China

WL specific info, not related to the laser not yet shipped, belongs in a thread about the company in the company board, NOT under the heading of a laser that has not yet shipped.

These threads are just angst flowing though keyboards
