He reminds me of my chemistry teacher, he's funny but at the same time he's just so wise and knowledgeable.

I think it's a good idea, for a few reasons at least.

First, the idea of having/reporting technical problems on the board - or what seems to be a technical problem. For instance, when I first joined I was frustrated out of my mind that I couldn't post any links here - I didn't know if it was because I use Firefox or something else. I wanted to contact a mod about that but there weren't any..... at the very least the temporary link-blocking policy should be posted in plain view somewhere for new users. But still, my point is that if this really had been a bug or glitch it would be good to have someone in charge to report it to.

2nd, when spam posts do occur, there are people here who respond to the posts, often by heckling the spammer. This is counter-productive and can often egg the spammer on + whatever trash they have posted stays on the board for a long time.....

I don't mean so much the rather ignorant newbie posts that ask stupid questions (the sort you see tons of over on LC), but advertising non-laser related stuff and quasi-pornographic posts. As someone else said there are children on this board + women who don't want to see that sort of trash in a place that's supposed to be about lasers and related subjects. In this case mods would be welcome - such posts could be locked or deleted and the member warned about what are acceptable subjects and what are not. There are plenty of places for people to hawk their products and talk about off-color stuff but I don't think this is the place for it.
Despite the disdain I have for LC, I must say that they did (back in the good 'ol days before they became nutty with the competitive product and "other laser company" crap) remove inappropriate posts fairly quickly.

I wouldn't mind being a mod but at this time I'm a bit too busy and I can't devote the time to read thru this forum every day.

(sorry to digress)
but i've never seen a FAIL FORUM.
Then Your Fail
lol jk..

On topic, this forum is doing great with out mods. We could all gladly point out people that would make good mods but there isnt much of a need for them. This forum is running fine! as you said we can deal with occasional spam (with fail picturs), and bad language might be on the forum but it's really not a huge issue. Also you dont need to be a mod to be a trusted individual... nor do you need to be a mod to be looked up to. That is what post counts and rep points are for. Mods can only cause problems.

the forum is fine!

I think moderators would be great, but would need to be very very carefully chosen.

I'll leave it at that
