Hi All,
The reason for the recent ~1.5hr downtime is I needed to have my host take the VM offline to add more disk space. The cost of hosting went up from $400 to $472 but not that big of a deal, as the donations are helping out a lot. The reason LPF hosting is so expensive is I use http://firehost.com -- an innovator in the space of secure-cloud hosting -- and ranked as one of the top cloud hosts in Gartner. As an IT security professional, I strongly value the importance of protecting LPF.
Firehost includes Distributed Denial of Service attack mitigation (LPF does get targeted and this helps keep the site running smooth). Firehost has many other security perks, not to mention a highly secure network design, which most cheap hosts don't even offer. I highly recommend Firehost. If you decide to use them please mention me as a referral and then LPF will get credit for that=)
